Volume Profile Visible Range (VPVR) with POC Price
Jan 10, 2026

The Volume Profile Visible Range (VPVR) with POC Price indicator visualizes the distribution of trading volume across price levels for the bars currently visible on the chart, enabling traders to pinpoint key liquidity zones and high-traffic price levels.
Usage
The Usage section describes how the script can be used to analyze market structure based on historical volume distribution. Traders can use this tool to identify the following:
- Support and Resistance Identification: High Volume Nodes (HVNs), represented by longer horizontal bars, indicate price levels where significant trading activity occurred. These zones often function as strong support or resistance.
- POC Interaction: The Point of Control (POC) represents the price level with the highest traded volume. Traders often monitor this level for price reactions, retests, or as a "magnet" for price action.
- Liquidity Gaps: Low Volume Nodes (LVNs) indicate price ranges with minimal trading activity. Price tends to move rapidly through these gaps due to a lack of liquidity.
- Value Area Analysis: The Value Area (VA) highlights the range where a specific percentage (default 70%) of the total volume was traded, helping to define the "fair value" zone for the current visible period.
Details
The script executes by calculating the volume distribution specifically for the data displayed within the user's current chart view. As the user zooms or scrolls, the indicator dynamically recalculates the profile.
The calculation logic divides the price range of the visible bars into a user-defined number of rows. It then aggregates the volume for each row, distinguishing between "Up" volume (bullish bars) and "Down" volume (bearish bars). The Value Area is calculated starting from the Point of Control and expanding to the neighboring rows with the highest volume until the target percentage of total volume is reached. The script utilizes the box and line drawing objects to render the profile and POC levels in real-time.
Settings
General Settings
- Rows (Resolution): Determines the number of horizontal bars used to calculate the profile. Higher values provide more detail, while lower values offer a broader overview.
- Width (%): Controls how far the volume bars extend across the chart horizontally.
- Value Area (%): Sets the percentage of total volume to be included in the Value Area calculation.
- Placement: Allows the user to anchor the volume profile to the "Left" or "Right" side of the chart.
Style & Colors
- Up Volume (Inside VA): Sets the color for bullish volume bars within the Value Area.
- Down Volume (Inside VA): Sets the color for bearish volume bars within the Value Area.
- Up Volume (Outside VA): Sets the color for bullish volume bars outside the Value Area (usually more transparent).
- Down Volume (Outside VA): Sets the color for bearish volume bars outside the Value Area (usually more transparent).
- POC (Point of Control): Determines the color of the POC line and the highest volume bar.
- POC Line Width: Adjusts the thickness of the horizontal line marking the POC price.
- Show POC Price Label: Toggles the visibility of the price tag associated with the Point of Control.
FAQ
How do I interpret the colors in the profile? The profile uses different colors to distinguish between volume inside and outside the Value Area, as well as between volume generated on up-bars versus down-bars.
Does the profile update when I change timeframes? Yes, the indicator automatically recalculates based on the visible bars whenever the timeframe or the visible range of the chart changes.
How can I access the Volume Profile Visible Range (VPVR) with POC Price? You can get access on the LuxAlgo Library for charting platforms like TradingView, MetaTrader (MT4/MT5), and NinjaTrader for free.
