The Multiple Moving Averages indicator consolidates several popular trend-following and volatility overlays into a single tool to streamline technical analysis and highlight potential entry or exit points via crossover signals.

Usage

The Usage section describes how the script can be used to identify market trends and volatility. Traders can use the indicator to monitor trend momentum through SMA and EMA pairings. When the shorter-period average crosses above the longer-period average, a "Buy" signal is plotted on the chart, whereas a "Sell" signal appears when the shorter average crosses below.

The tool also allows for volatility analysis using Bollinger Bands, which help identify overextended price conditions. The inclusion of a Volume Weighted Moving Average (VWMA) allows users to see price trends filtered by trading activity, providing a more nuanced view of market strength compared to standard moving averages.

Details

This indicator is a multi-functional overlay script that combines four distinct technical analysis methods:

  • Simple Moving Averages (SMA): Calculates the average price over a specific number of bars, providing a smoothed trend line.
  • Exponential Moving Averages (EMA): Similar to the SMA but applies more weight to recent prices, making it more responsive to new information.
  • Bollinger Bands: Consists of a middle SMA line and two outer bands calculated using standard deviation, used to measure market volatility.
  • Volume Weighted Moving Average (VWMA): Weights price data based on trading volume, ensuring that price movements with high volume have a greater impact on the average.

The script includes built-in logic for crossover signals and alert conditions, specifically designed for the SMA and EMA pairs. This original logic was initially developed by @Mahesh-Leo.
