The Pivot Point+ Supertrend + EMA + Support/Resistance indicator provides a comprehensive multi-component toolkit designed to help traders identify trends, dynamic volatility levels, and key structural price areas in a single view. By integrating classic pivot detection with trend-following logic and moving average clusters, it offers a holistic approach to market analysis.

Usage

The tool can be utilized to establish a multi-layered trading strategy:

  • Trend Identification: Use the Supertrend component to determine the current market sentiment. A green line indicates a bullish trend, while a red line indicates a bearish trend.
  • Dynamic Support/Resistance: The Supertrend line acts as a dynamic boundary, while the plotted "H" (High) and "L" (Low) pivot labels highlight specific price peaks and troughs.
  • EMA Clusters: The four EMAs can be used to gauge momentum. For example, a "golden cross" or price maintaining position above the high-period EMA (e.g., 200 EMA) often confirms a long-term trend.
  • Structural Levels: The support and resistance levels are plotted as crosses on the chart based on historical pivot highs and lows, providing horizontal zones where price may react or reverse.

Details

The script executes several distinct calculations to provide its outputs:

  • Supertrend: Calculated using the Average True Range (ATR) multiplied by a user-defined factor to create a volatility-adjusted trend line.
  • Pivots: Uses the ta.pivothigh and ta.pivotlow functions to detect structural points over a lookback/lookahead window (Period).
  • Support/Resistance Mapping: It captures the value of the most recent pivot high or low and extends it forward until a new pivot is formed, creating horizontal tracking of key levels.
  • EMA Stack: Four Exponential Moving Averages are calculated to provide a view of trend smoothing across different time horizons.

Settings

Supertrend

  • ATR Length: The lookback period used for the Average True Range calculation.
  • Factor: The multiplier applied to the ATR to determine the distance of the Supertrend line from price.

Pivot & Levels

  • Pivot Source: The price source (High, Low, Open, or Close) used to determine pivot values.
  • Pivot Point Period: The number of bars required on either side of a high or low to confirm a pivot point.

EMAs

  • EMA 1-4 Period: Customizable periods for the four plotted Exponential Moving Averages (defaults are 9, 21, 50, and 200).
