MSS + Order Flow Footprint System (Pro)
Mar 28, 2026

The MSS + Order Flow Footprint System (Pro) tool provides a comprehensive framework for identifying institutional market structure shifts while validating them through localized order flow analysis.
Usage
The MSS + Order Flow Footprint System (Pro) is designed to help traders identify high-probability trend reversals or continuations by combining price action with volume-based confirmation. When a Market Structure Shift (MSS) is detected, the indicator automatically plots a signal footprint on the trigger candle, showing the distribution of volume across different price levels within that bar.
Traders can use the automated trade setup feature to visualize potential entry points, three take-profit (TP) levels, and a stop-loss (SL) level based on local market structure. By adjusting the "Displacement Multiplier," users can filter for more aggressive moves, ensuring that only candles with significant momentum trigger a signal.
Details
The script utilizes a combination of Pivot Highs and Lows to track current market structure. A bullish MSS occurs when price closes above the most recent Lower High, while a bearish MSS occurs when price closes below the most recent Higher Low.
To increase signal reliability, the system incorporates:
- Displacement: Ensures the breakout candle is impulsive relative to its Average True Range (ATR).
- Volume Validation: Confirms that the move is backed by higher-than-average participation.
- Candlestick Patterns: Optionally requires Engulfing or Pinbar patterns for entry.
- Order Flow Footprint: Uses lower timeframe data (1m for intraday, 1h for daily) to calculate volume distribution, identifying the "Point of Control" within the signal candle.
Settings
Market Structure Shift
- Pivot Lookback: Determines the number of bars used to identify pivot highs and lows for structure tracking.
- ATR Length: The period used for calculating the Average True Range.
- Displacement Multiplier: The required body size of the breakout candle relative to the ATR.
Entry Confirmation
- Require Volume Spike: When enabled, the signal candle must have volume above a specified moving average.
- Volume Multiplier: The factor by which volume must exceed its average.
- Require Strong Pattern: Requires an Engulfing or Pinbar candlestick pattern on the MSS candle.
Order Flow
- Show Signal Footprint: Toggles the visibility of the volume distribution boxes on the MSS candle.
- Footprint Rows: Sets the vertical granularity of the volume distribution.
Trade Setup
- Show Trade Setup: Toggles the display of entry, stop-loss, and take-profit levels.
- TP1/TP2/TP3 (RR): Adjusts the reward-to-risk ratio for the three target levels.
FAQ
How do I interpret the footprint on the signal candle?
The footprint displays the volume distribution within the candle that triggered the MSS. The highlighted level represents the price area with the highest volume (Point of Control), indicating where the most significant market activity occurred during the shift.
How do I access MSS + Order Flow Footprint System (Pro)?
You can get access on the LuxAlgo Library for charting platforms like TradingView, MetaTrader (MT4/MT5), and NinjaTrader for free.
Why are there no signals appearing on my chart?
Signals require several conditions to be met simultaneously: a breach of structural pivots, displacement, and optional volume/pattern confirmations. Try reducing the "Displacement Multiplier" or "Volume Multiplier" if you wish to see more frequent signals.
