The Pivot mtf semaphore support&resistance indicator identifies and projects multi-timeframe pivot levels onto your current chart to highlight potential future support and resistance zones. By analyzing high and low pivots across different resolutions, it helps traders spot critical Higher Highs, Lower Lows, and trend-specific structural levels from a higher-level perspective.

Usage

The tool is designed to provide a comprehensive view of market structure by displaying pivot levels from up to three different timeframes simultaneously.

  • Multi-Timeframe Analysis: Use the higher timeframe settings (First and Second) to identify institutional or trend-level support and resistance.
  • Intraday Structure: Use the Third setting (Current Timeframe) to manage entries and exits based on local pivot points.
  • Trend Identification: Identifying a series of projected Higher Highs (HH) or Lower Lows (LL) across timeframes helps in confirming the underlying market trend.
  • Level Breakouts: Extended lines can be used to observe how price reacts when returning to historical pivot levels.

Details

The indicator utilizes pivot point calculations based on a user-defined number of bars to the left and right. For higher timeframe (HTF) levels, the script employs request.security to fetch pivot data and then uses a custom offsetting logic to accurately map those HTF prices back to the specific bars on the current chart.

Note: Due to Pine Script's architectural limit of 4999 bars back, if a selected higher timeframe is significantly distant from the current chart's resolution (e.g., viewing Monthly pivots on a 1-minute chart), the lines may not appear if the pivot bar index exceeds the lookback limit.

Settings

Pivot Setting 1 & 2 (Higher Timeframes)

  • Show first/second: Toggles the visibility of the respective HTF pivot levels.
  • Timeframe: Sets the resolution from which pivots are calculated (e.g., Daily, 4-Hour).
  • Left/Right: The number of bars required to the left and right of a high/low to qualify as a pivot.
  • Line count: Determines how many historical levels are kept on the chart.
  • Extend lines: If enabled, horizontal levels will extend to the current bar.
  • Visuals: Options to adjust thickness, style (dotted, solid, dashed), and color.

Pivot Setting 3 (Current Timeframe)

  • Show current timeframe pivots: Toggles local pivot visibility.
  • Left/Right: Defines the sensitivity of local pivot detection.
  • Line count: Number of local levels to display.
  • Extend lines: Extends local support/resistance to the right.

FAQ

How do I access Pivot mtf semaphore support&resistance?

You can get access on the LuxAlgo Library for charting platforms like TradingView, MetaTrader (MT4/MT5), and NinjaTrader for free.

Why are the lines not showing up on my chart?

This usually happens if the "Timeframe" setting is too high compared to your current chart. Pine Script can only look back 4999 bars; if the pivot occurred further back than that, it cannot be rendered.

Can I set alerts for these levels?

Yes, the script includes built-in alert triggers for when a new Pivot High or Pivot Low is detected across any of the three enabled timeframes.
