Parallel Pivot Lines

Parallel Pivot Lines connects past pivot highs and lows with families of parallel lines, every line adopting a slope derived from linear regression. The result behaves less like a live indicator and more like an automated drawing tool: stacked parallel channels laid through the swings that actually anchored price, ready to serve as sloped or horizontal support and resistance.

How to Trade the Parallel Pivot Lines?

  • Slope = 1: lines reproduce the slope of a regression fitted from the outermost displayed pivot to the current bar — a fast way to project with-trend support and resistance.
  • Slope = 0: horizontal lines anchored at pivots, classic fixed shelves across the chart.
  • Negative Slope: lines cut against the prevailing trend for counter-trend mapping.
  • Repeated touches: a line price keeps respecting earns the same standing as a carefully drawn trendline.

The lines are computed from historical pivots and do not re-anchor as new bars print. To realign them with the latest swings, hide and unhide the indicator or nudge any setting; with very high Length or Lookback values, pivots can fall outside the 5,000-bar rendering buffer and no lines will appear.

Parallel Pivot Lines Settings

  • Length: pivot detection length; higher values connect only the more significant pivots.
  • Lookback: how many lines to draw per pivot type — the total displayed is Lookback × 2.
  • Slope: the shared slope of every line, adjustable from -1 to 1.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why don't the lines update as new bars form?

Rendering is fixed to historical pivots, so the drawing stays put while the market moves — that stability is deliberate. Toggle its visibility or adjust a setting whenever you want it re-fitted to recent structure.

What if I want lines that signal breaks automatically?

Reach for Trendlines with Breaks, which maintains its own trendlines and flags price breaking through them. Parallel Pivot Lines is deliberately static — better suited to mapping stable reference levels than to generating signals.
