The Traders Dynamic Index Indicator Alert tool provides a comprehensive trend trading framework combining the Traders Dynamic Index (TDI), Price Action Channel (PAC), and optional MACD filtering to identify high-probability entries. It is designed to detect trend shifts and momentum exhaustion across various timeframes and asset classes.

Usage

The Usage section describes how the script can be used to identify trading opportunities through multiple layers of confirmation. The indicator generates alerts based on the interaction between the RSI Price Line, the Trade Signal Line, and the Volatility Band Market Base Line.

  • Bullish Signals: Occur when the RSI Price Line (Green) crosses above the Trade Signal Line (Red) while price action is above the Price Action Channel (PAC).
  • Bearish Signals: Occur when the RSI Price Line (Green) crosses below the Trade Signal Line (Red) while price action is below the PAC.
  • Strength Levels: The indicator categorizes signals into three levels:
    • Strong (Level 1): Occurs when the crossover happens on the favorable side of the Market Base Line (Orange).
    • Medium (Level 2): Occurs when the RSI Price Line has crossed the Market Base Line but the Trade Signal Line has not.
    • Weak (Level 3): Occurs when the entire crossover happens on the opposite side of the Market Base Line.
  • Heikin Ashi Integration: Users can toggle Heikin Ashi calculations to smooth out price noise and visualize trends more clearly. When enabled, a "no bottom wick" candle indicates a strong bullish trend, while a "no top wick" candle suggests a strong bearish trend.

Details

The script is a refined implementation of the Traders Dynamic Index, optimized for earlier signal detection compared to standard TDI versions.

  1. TDI Components: It utilizes a Relative Strength Index (RSI) smoothed by multiple moving averages. The Volatility Band (VB) provides a dynamic range, where the outer blue lines represent market volatility and the orange Market Base Line represents the overall trend direction.
  2. Price Action Channel (PAC): Built using SMMA (Smoothed Moving Averages) of highs and lows, this channel acts as a dynamic support and resistance zone. Signals are filtered based on whether price closes outside this channel.
  3. MACD Filtering: An optional MACD filter ensures that signals are only generated when momentum is aligned with the trade direction. This helps avoid "choppy" or ranging markets where the MACD histogram remains flat.

Settings

  • RSI Length: Defines the lookback period for the core RSI calculation.
  • Band Length: Sets the lookback period for the Volatility Band (Bollinger-style) calculations.
  • RSI PL Length: Determines the smoothing of the RSI Price Line (Green).
  • Trade Signal Length: Determines the smoothing of the Trade Signal Line (Red).
  • Price Action Channel Length: Sets the period for the SMMA-based high/low channel.
  • RSI Oversold/Overbought Levels: Adjusts the horizontal thresholds for extreme market conditions.
  • Strength Level: Filters alerts based on signal quality (1 = Strong only, 2 = Strong + Medium, 3 = All).
  • Use Heikin Ashi Candles for Calculations: When enabled, the indicator uses Heikin Ashi data for all internal logic regardless of the chart type.
  • Use MACD Filtering: Enables an additional momentum filter to reduce false signals in sideways markets.

FAQ

How do I interpret the different bar colors on my chart? The colors represent signal strength: Gold/Fuchsia for Strong, Aqua/Purple for Medium, and Blue/Black for Weak signals. You can customize these in the settings or toggle the "Highlight TDI Alert Bars" option.

Why are some signals filtered out when I enable MACD? The MACD filter requires the MACD histogram to be trending in the same direction as the TDI crossover. If the TDI suggests a buy but the MACD is falling, the signal will be suppressed to avoid counter-trend trades.
