# Arbitrage Detector

Arbitrage Detector is an indicator on [Vela](https://vela.luxalgo.com/chart), our next-generation charting platform, written in Pine Script®.

Monitors one asset across up to 19 crypto exchanges and 13 forex brokers, exposing price and volume spreads, updated at each bar close, in a sortable on-chart dashboard. A percentile-graded histogram flags unusual spread activity against its own history, helping spread watchers and arbitrage-minded traders spot inefficiencies before they close.

**Arbitrage Detector** watches one asset across up to 19 crypto exchanges and 13 forex brokers simultaneously, a [cross-instrument view](https://www.luxalgo.com/library/concept/cross-instrument-composition/) that surfaces where spreads exist, how large they run, and whether they are unusual, high, typical, or low against their own history. A sortable dashboard shows live prices and volumes per source, while a lower-pane histogram grades spread behavior by percentile.

## How to Trade the Arbitrage Detector?

- **Dashboard deltas**: optional price and volume deltas, shown in parentheses beside each venue's values, quantify how each venue differs from the charted asset, a fast check against executing at an unfavorable price.
- **Percentile flags**: histogram readings above your Unusual threshold (values beyond the 98th percentile in the daily EUR/USD example) mark abnormal spread activity that often coincides with heightened trading and potential reaction zones.
- **Gradient coloring**: the histogram shifts toward yellow as spreads heat up and toward green and blue as they cool, while an Average Spread line, smoothed by a fixed EMA or the adaptive Auto mode, steadies the read.

Source selection is automatic (crypto assets pull exchange feeds, everything else uses brokers), with a manual override available. Sorting any dashboard column in ascending or descending order applies a background gradient so the ranked column stays obvious at a glance.

## Arbitrage Detector Settings

- **Sources**: crypto exchanges, forex brokers, or automatic detection from the chart asset.
- **Average Length**: lookback for average price and volume.
- **Percentile Length**: window for percentile calculations, or the full dataset at higher resource cost.
- **Unusual % > / High % > / Typical % >**: thresholds that grade spread size.
- **Dashboard**: toggle, sort column and direction, position, size, plus the Price Delta and Volume Delta toggles.
- **Style**: percentile plots and colors, auto-coloring, histogram gradient, and smoothing mode.

## Frequently Asked Questions

### Does the Arbitrage Detector place trades?

No. It is an analysis tool. It monitors prices and volumes across venues and flags inefficiencies; whether and where to act on a spread remains your decision.

### How does it differ from the Arbitrage Matrix?

The Detector focuses on the charted asset venue by venue, adding spread history and percentile context. The [Arbitrage Matrix](https://www.luxalgo.com/library/indicator/arbitrage-matrix/) compares every enabled source against every other in one pairwise grid: scan there, then drill in here.

### How do I access the Arbitrage Detector?

Access is free through the LuxAlgo Library. The page also lets you launch it in Quant, our coding agent, to explore spread behavior before it ever touches your chart layout. You can also copy the source code from this page and run it anywhere Pine Script® runs.
