VWAP + 2 Moving Averages + RSI + Buy and Sell
May 16, 2023

The VWAP + 2 Moving Averages + RSI + Buy and Sell indicator provides automated trade signals by combining trend-following moving average crossovers with volume-weighted price filters and momentum oscillators to identify high-probability entries.
Usage
The indicator is designed to identify trend reversals confirmed by volume and momentum. Traders can use the visual "BUY" and "SELL" labels to spot potential entry points:
- Buy Signals: Occur when the 20-period SMA crosses above the 50-period SMA, provided the closing price is above the VWAP and the RSI is above 50. This indicates a bullish trend shift supported by volume and positive momentum.
- Sell Signals: Occur when the 20-period SMA crosses below the 50-period SMA, provided the closing price is below the VWAP and the RSI is below 50. This indicates a bearish trend shift supported by volume and negative momentum.
The script can be used as a standalone signal generator or as a confluence filter within a broader trading system.
Details
The script integrates four primary technical components to ensure signals are filtered for both trend and strength:
- Moving Average Crossover: Uses a 20-period (Fast) and 50-period (Slow) Simple Moving Average to determine the primary trend direction.
- VWAP (Volume Weighted Average Price): Acts as a dynamic support/resistance and value filter. By requiring price to be on a specific side of the VWAP, the script ensures trades are taken in alignment with the intraday volume-weighted trend.
- Relative Strength Index (RSI): Uses a 14-period setting to gauge momentum. The 50-level threshold is used as a filter to ensure the market has sufficient strength (for buys) or weakness (for sells) before a signal triggers.
- Visual Labels: Signals are plotted directly on the chart using "shape.labelup" and "shape.labeldown" styles for immediate identification.
Settings
- SMA 1 (Fast): Sets the period for the fast simple moving average (defaulted to 20).
- SMA 2 (Slow): Sets the period for the slow simple moving average (defaulted to 50).
- RSI Length: Sets the lookback period for the Relative Strength Index (defaulted to 14).
- RSI Threshold: The midpoint (50) used to confirm momentum direction.
- VWAP: Calculated based on the standard session volume-weighted average price.
FAQ
How do I interpret the Buy and Sell labels? A "BUY" label suggests a bullish setup where the fast moving average has crossed above the slow moving average while price is above the VWAP and momentum is rising. A "SELL" label suggests a bearish setup where the fast moving average has crossed below the slow moving average while price is below the VWAP and momentum is falling.
Can I use this indicator on any timeframe? Yes, the indicator is functional on all timeframes; however, because it utilizes VWAP, it is particularly effective on intraday charts where volume-weighted price levels are most relevant.
How can I access this indicator? You can get access on the LuxAlgo Library for charting platforms like TradingView, MetaTrader (MT4/MT5), and NinjaTrader for free.
