# Chandelier Exit Oscillator

The chandelier stop reworked as an oscillator: price measured against ATR-based trailing stop levels, in raw or normalized 0–100 form, with a timeframe input for multi-timeframe reads. An optional overlay restores the actual stop levels to the chart while trend-colored bars flag direction. For trend riders who want exits they can read at a glance.

**Chandelier Exit Oscillator** re-expresses the classic [chandelier stop](https://www.luxalgo.com/library/concept/chandelier-stop/) as an oscillator, measuring where price stands relative to trailing stop levels set at a chosen [Average True Range](https://www.luxalgo.com/library/concept/atr/) multiple. Trend strength, fading momentum, and brewing reversals that can be hard to judge from a trailing line on price become plain oscillator geometry, and an optional overlay restores the actual stop levels to the chart whenever you want them.

## How to Trade the Chandelier Exit Oscillator?

- **Direction and baseline distance**: an oscillator holding away from its baseline signals a trend with room; stalling or turning warns the move is weakening.
- **Normalized extremes**: in Normalized mode readings are smoothed and scaled 0–100, making overextension comparable across assets and timeframes.
- **Overlay levels**: the on-chart stops double as exit or trailing-stop references for longs and shorts.
- **Trend-colored bars**: bar coloring by prevailing direction gives an instant read while managing a position.

The Timeframe input is the quiet standout: calculate the oscillator on a higher timeframe and you can time lower-timeframe exits without ever leaving your execution chart.

## Chandelier Exit Oscillator Settings

- **Timeframe**: timeframe used for the chandelier calculation, the multi-timeframe lever.
- **ATR Length**: bars in the Average True Range behind the stops.
- **ATR Multiplier**: stop distance; higher values trail conservatively, lower values hug price.
- **Oscillator Type**: Regular for raw values, Normalized for the smoothed 0–100 presentation.
- **Oscillator Smoothing**: extra noise reduction on the oscillator line.
- **Overlay Toggle** / **Trend-Based Bar Colors**: show stop levels on price and color bars by trend.

## Frequently Asked Questions

### Regular or Normalized: which mode should I run?

Pick Regular when you want the unprocessed values with full precision. Pick Normalized when comparing across instruments or timeframes: the smoothing and 0–100 scale keep readings consistent wherever you apply it.

### How does this differ from the original Chandelier Exit?

The stop math belongs to the same family (both trail price by an ATR-scaled distance), but the [Chandelier Exit](https://www.luxalgo.com/library/indicator/chandelier-exit/) lives on the price chart, while this build converts the relationship into an oscillator with multi-timeframe support and an optional overlay. You get the familiar exits plus a momentum-style read.

### What does access to the Chandelier Exit Oscillator cost?

It is free in the LuxAlgo Library. You can even open it in Quant, our coding agent, directly from this page and test how its exits behave on the symbols you trade. You can also copy the source code from this page and run it anywhere Pine Script® runs.
