CPR, Camarilla & Moving Average
May 21, 2021

The CPR Camarilla & MA indicator provides a comprehensive pivot-based trading environment by combining the Central Pivot Range (CPR), Camarilla levels, and multiple moving averages into a single tool for intraday and swing trading. It is designed to help traders identify key support and resistance zones while filtering trends using various Simple and Exponential Moving Averages.
Usage
The Usage section describes how the script can be used to identify market sentiment and potential reversal or breakout points.
- Intraday Trading: Use the Daily CPR levels to determine the market's bias. If the price opens above the CPR, the sentiment is typically bullish; if below, it is bearish. The width of the CPR can indicate market volatility (narrow CPR suggests a potential breakout, wide CPR suggests a range-bound day).
- Pivot Confluence: By enabling Camarilla levels alongside CPR, traders can find "confluence zones" where multiple pivot levels align, increasing the probability of a reversal or breakout.
- Trend Filtering: Utilize the 5 EMAs and 5 SMAs to confirm the trend. For example, a "Golden Cross" (50 SMA crossing above 200 SMA) combined with price holding above the Weekly CPR provides a strong bullish signal.
- Dynamic Support/Resistance: The 9 EMA can be used as a trailing stop-loss for aggressive trends, while the 20 SMA often acts as a re-entry point during pullbacks.
Details
The script's construction is based on concepts popularized by Frank Ochoa (PivotBoss) and Ashwani Gujral.
- Central Pivot Range (CPR): Calculated using the High, Low, and Close of the previous period. It consists of the Pivot Point (PP), Bottom Central (BC), and Top Central (TC).
- Camarilla Pivots: These levels (L1-L6 and H1-H6) are calculated based on the previous day's range. They focus on mean reversion (L3/H3) and breakout exhaustion (L4/H4).
- Clutter Management: A unique feature of this implementation is the ability to limit the number of historical periods displayed. Users can set exactly how many days, weeks, or months of CPR data appear on the chart to keep the workspace clean.
- Forward Projection: The script can calculate and project "Tomorrow's" CPR levels, allowing traders to prepare for the upcoming session's bias before the market opens.

FAQ
How do I interpret a narrow vs. wide CPR? A narrow CPR indicates low volatility in the previous period and often precedes a trending "breakout" day. A wide CPR indicates high volatility and suggests the market may remain sideways or range-bound.
Can I use this for Swing Trading? Yes. By enabling Weekly and Monthly CPR levels along with the 50 and 200-period SMAs, you can identify long-term support and resistance zones suitable for swing positions.
How do I access the CPR Camarilla & MA indicator? You can get access on the LuxAlgo Library for charting platforms like TradingView, MetaTrader (MT4/MT5), and NinjaTrader for free.
