Multi Moving Average with Forecast
May 9, 2021

The Multi Moving Average with Forecast indicator provides a versatile multi-layered analysis tool that plots up to 10 customizable moving averages with an integrated forecasting feature to project future trend trajectories. It is designed to help traders visualize trend confluence and potential price targets across multiple timeframes and calculation methods simultaneously.
Usage
The Usage section describes how the script can be used, examples should be provided in this section. This section also focuses on how main settings affect the indicator interpretation and output.
Traders can utilize the Multi Moving Average with Forecast to identify support and resistance zones created by the overlap of different moving average types. For example, by enabling a fast "EMA" and a slow "SMA," users can look for crossovers as entry or exit signals.
The indicator is particularly useful for:
- Trend Confluence: Enabling multiple MAs (e.g., 50-period and 200-period) to identify long-term trend directions.
- Timeframe Analysis: Using the "Resolution" setting to overlay higher timeframe moving averages (like a Daily MA on a 1-hour chart) for multi-timeframe confirmation.
- Forecasting: Enabling the "Forecast" toggle to project the moving average path five periods into the future based on recent momentum, assisting in anticipating potential trend shifts.
Details
The script provides a comprehensive suite of 19 different moving average types, including standard variants like SMA and EMA, as well as more complex calculations such as ALMA (Arnaud Legoux Moving Average), KAMA (Kaufman's Adaptive Moving Average), and VIDYA (Variable Index Dynamic Average).
The forecasting mechanism utilizes the most recent trend slope to extend the selected moving average lines beyond the current bar. This projection is rendered using line drawings to distinguish it from historical data. The indicator supports high-density visual setups by allowing users to toggle individual labels and visibility for each of the 10 available slots.
Settings
- Enable: Toggles the visibility of the specific moving average slot.
- Type: Selects the calculation method (e.g., SMA, EMA, HMA, LSMA, etc.).
- Length: Determines the lookback period for the moving average calculation.
- Source: Defines the price data used for the calculation (default is Close).
- Resolution: Allows the user to select a different timeframe for the moving average calculation.
- Color/Width: Customizes the visual appearance of the moving average line.
- Forecast: Enables a 5-period forward-looking projection of the moving average.
- Label: Displays a label at the end of the line for easy identification of the MA type and value.
