# Hot Zone Radar

Hot Zone Radar is an indicator on [Vela](https://vela.luxalgo.com/chart), our next-generation charting platform, written in Pine Script®.

A liquidity weather map: the Radar Dashboard renders evolving volume concentration as a scrolling thermal heatmap, while gradient boxes project the strongest clusters onto the chart as adaptive support and resistance. A status readout classifies conditions as HOT, WARM, COLD, or STABLE, telling you at a glance whether range or breakout tactics fit.

**Hot Zone Radar** turns raw volume into a thermal map of market liquidity, pairing a rolling Radar Dashboard heatmap with gradient support and resistance zones projected directly onto price. Cell colors run from deep blue and cyan (cold, thin liquidity) to bright red (hot, heavy liquidity), each graded against the busiest price level in the current volume profile, while a dotted price trace shows where the market sits within that structure.

## How to Trade the Hot Zone Radar?

- **HOT status**: price is oscillating inside a major liquidity hub. Range-bound conditions are likely, favoring mean-reversion tactics.
- **COLD status**: price is moving through a low-volume vacuum, where momentum breakouts can accelerate with little in the way.
- **WARM status**: price is trending toward a high-volume cluster that can act as a magnet, useful for target setting.
- **Gradient S/R boxes**: the strongest liquidity clusters projected onto the chart; their gradient shifts when price enters, flagging active interaction where rejection or compression often develops.

Because the dashboard scrolls through time, it shows not just where volume sits but how long it has persisted: long-lived hot zones read as structural levels, while fading nodes warn the map is being redrawn.

## Hot Zone Radar Settings

- **Profile Lookback**: how many bars feed the volume distribution.
- **Resolution (Heatmap Grid)**: vertical bins and horizontal steps, more detail at a higher processing cost.
- **Diffusion Blur** and **Intensity Gamma**: smoothing strength and color sensitivity; lower gamma makes hot zones appear more readily.
- **Show Gradient S/R Zones**, **S/R Sensitivity %**, **Gradient Steps**: toggle the projected boxes, set the volume threshold a zone must clear, and control the layered glow.
- **Position** and **Overall Panel Size**: dashboard placement and scale.

## Frequently Asked Questions

### How is this different from a standard volume profile?

A profile condenses a window's volume into one static histogram; the radar keeps a rolling history, so you watch liquidity evolve, persist, and decay, with a status readout and projected zones on top. For a node-focused take on the classic histogram, see [Volume Profile with Node Detection](https://www.luxalgo.com/library/indicator/volume-profile-with-node-detection/).

### Which styles and markets suit it?

Scalpers can shorten the lookback and raise resolution; swing traders can filter for only the strongest hubs via the sensitivity threshold. It works across stocks, crypto, forex, futures, and indices.

### How do I get the Hot Zone Radar?

Free via the LuxAlgo Library. It also loads straight into Quant, our coding agent, from this page. You can also copy the source code from this page and run it anywhere Pine Script® runs.
