# HTF-level Proximity Filters

HTF-level Proximity Filters is an indicator on [Vela](https://vela.luxalgo.com/chart), our next-generation charting platform, written in Pine Script®.

Gates lower-timeframe signals by their distance to higher-timeframe levels: prior day, week and month high/low/close plus the daily floor pivot ladder, normalized in ATR multiples or percent of price. Clearance mode vetoes signals aimed into a nearby level; proximity mode passes only signals firing at one. Nearest levels plot with glow shading and a dashboard shows the live gates. Default threshold: 0.25 daily ATR.

**HTF-level Proximity Filters** turns the [HTF-level proximity filter](https://www.luxalgo.com/library/concept/htf-level-proximity-filters/) idea into a running gate on the chart. It maintains a fourteen-level inventory (prior day, week and month high, low and close, plus a floor pivot ladder) measures the distance to the nearest reference on each side, in ATR multiples or as a percent of price, and resolves long and short gates every bar. Clearance mode (the default) blocks a long while a level sits within the threshold overhead; proximity mode passes only signals firing at a level. The nearest levels plot with a proximity glow.

## How to Trade the HTF-level Proximity Filters?

- **Long: Blocked**: a level sits inside the threshold overhead. Clearance mode discards longs launched straight into the obstacle.
- **Near-level state**: price is at a reference. Confluence for proximity-mode entries, caution for signals aimed into the level.
- **Above / Below rows**: the nearest reference each side doubles as the first-target candidate in a trade's path.

The gates never generate signals; this is the filter stage of the [composition toolkit](https://www.luxalgo.com/library/family/meta-composition/), adjudicating locations for signals produced elsewhere.

## HTF-level Proximity Filters Settings

- **Filter Mode** (default Require Clearance): veto near-obstacle signals, or require firing at a level.
- **Proximity Threshold** (default 0.25): the distance that counts as at a level, in the active unit.
- **Distance Units** (default ATR Multiples): or % of Price.
- **ATR Basis** (default Daily) with **Length** (default 14): the prior day's ATR as the yardstick; the chart ATR above daily.
- **Level inventory**: prior day, week and month high/low/close all enabled by default; **Floor Pivots** (default enabled) from the D timeframe.
- **Untested Levels Only** (default disabled): drop references already traded through until their period rolls.
- **Dashboard & style**: gate panel on, level labels on, near-level background off.

## Frequently Asked Questions

### How does this differ from Pivot Points?
[Pivot Points](https://www.luxalgo.com/library/indicator/pivot-points/) plot the ladder and stop there. This tool consumes such levels (the floor formula sits in its inventory) and turns them into a pass-or-block decision by distance.

### How should the threshold be chosen?
No universal number exists: a tight threshold admits only the cleanest interactions, a loose one catches more and blurs what being at a level means. Run gated and ungated streams side by side on identical data and keep the setting only when its rejections pay for themselves.

### Can another script consume the gates?
Yes. Normalized distances, the near-level state and both gates publish as data-window series any signal script can read as an external source.
