# HTF Swing Structure Signals

HTF Swing Structure Signals is an indicator on [Vela](https://vela.luxalgo.com/chart), our next-generation charting platform, written in Pine Script®.

Labels BOS and CHoCH events, colors them by a higher timeframe EMA bias (gray when against it), and auto-draws a 50% retracement level after a CHoCH aligned with that bias. A triangle prints when price returns to that level, giving structure traders a rule-based pullback framework with adjustable pivot sensitivity and setup expiry.

**HTF Swing Structure Signals** turns [swing structure](https://www.luxalgo.com/library/concept/swing-structure-grammar/) into a rule-based pullback framework. It labels Break of Structure (BOS) and Change of Character (CHoCH) events from pivot-detected swings, colors them by an exponential moving average calculated on a higher timeframe (gray when against it), and, when a CHoCH fires in the direction of that bias, draws an active 50% retracement level and signals the touch.

## How to Trade the HTF Swing Structure Signals?

- **BOS / CHoCH labels**: with-trend breaks and potential character changes, marked as swings give way.
- **HTF EMA bias**: price above the higher timeframe EMA emphasizes bullish structure; below it, bearish, so you avoid fighting the primary trend.
- **Dotted line + 50% level**: drawn after a trend-aligned CHoCH; the retracement zone where a pullback entry is staged.
- **Triangle signal**: prints when price touches the active 50% level in the direction of the HTF bias.

Levels expire once touched or once a chosen bar limit elapses, so only fresh setups stay on the chart. Pairing local structure with a higher timeframe filter is [multi-timeframe structure alignment](https://www.luxalgo.com/library/concept/multi-timeframe-structure-alignment/) in practice: the EMA sets direction, the break sets the moment, the 50% level sets the price.

## HTF Swing Structure Signals Settings

- **Higher Timeframe**: sets the bias EMA's timeframe (Daily, 4-hour, and so on).
- **EMA Length**: bars used in the moving average calculation.
- **MS Pivot Period**: swing sensitivity for BOS and CHoCH detection.
- **Fib Pivot Period**: currently has no effect on the plotted levels; each 50% level is measured from the extreme between the broken MS pivot and the breakout bar.
- **Max Bars for Fib to Disappear**: how long an untouched level stays active before expiring.
- **Require Counter-Trend BOS for Setup**: demands a prior counter-trend break before a new trend-aligned setup validates.

## Frequently Asked Questions

### How does it differ from ICT Anchored Market Structures with Validation?

[ICT Anchored Market Structures with Validation](https://www.luxalgo.com/library/indicator/ict-anchored-market-structures-with-validation/) concentrates on detection quality: input-free structure with sweep validation. This tool is about execution: it grades breaks against an HTF bias and stages a concrete 50% pullback entry for each valid one.

### Which pivot settings should I use?

Longer pivot periods isolate major swings and fire less often; shorter ones catch minor structure but admit more noise. The MS Pivot Period sets the sensitivity of both the structure labels and the retracement anchors, since each 50% level is measured from the extreme between the broken MS pivot and the breakout bar.

### Where can I get access?
