# ICT Killzones

ICT Killzones is an indicator on [Vela](https://vela.luxalgo.com/chart), our next-generation charting platform, written in Pine Script®.

Overlays the ICT Killzones (the New York, London Open, London Close and Asian windows) and ties Fibonacci retracements to each zone's price range. Levels update while a Killzone is active and hold at their last tier afterward, handing session traders repeatable intraday references. Built for charts of 1 hour and below, with forex a natural fit.

**ICT Killzones** shades the intraday windows that ICT methodology treats as prime hunting ground for entries, the [killzones](https://www.luxalgo.com/library/concept/killzones/), and ties Fibonacci retracements to each window's own price range. While a killzone is active, its retracement levels update with the developing range; once it ends, they hold at their last tier, leaving reference prices for the hours that follow.

## How to Trade the ICT Killzones?

- **Four windows**: New York (7:00–9:00), London Open (2:00–5:00), London Close (10:00–12:00) and Asian (20:00–00:00), all in fixed UTC-5 (New York standard time, so one hour later on the New York clock during daylight saving), intervals regarded as offering superior entry conditions, especially in forex.
- **Retracement pullbacks**: use the Fibonacci levels drawn from the active killzone's range to frame entries as price pulls back inside the window.
- **After the window closes**: levels persist at their last calculated tier, so a prior killzone's retracements still anchor decisions later in the day.

Because the windows map onto [trading sessions](https://www.luxalgo.com/library/concept/trading-sessions/), keep the chart at 1 hour or below. Higher timeframes can misrepresent the intervals. Disabling selected killzones while extending the remaining retracements opens up longer, cleaner reads of the levels you care about.

## ICT Killzones Settings

- **Show Retracements**: toggles the Fibonacci retracement display tied to each killzone's range.
- **Extend**: prolongs the retracements beyond the killzone itself for continued reference.
- **Reverse**: swaps the maximum and minimum used in the retracement calculation to match the direction you are working.
- Retracement values and colors are adjustable, so the level set can mirror your own Fibonacci preferences.

## Frequently Asked Questions

### Which timeframes work best with ICT Killzones?
One hour and below. Above that, the plotted windows may misrepresent the true intervals, so intraday charts give the most faithful killzone boundaries.

### How does this differ from the ICT Killzones Toolkit?
This build stays lean: the time windows plus range-based Fibonacci retracements. The [ICT Killzones Toolkit](https://www.luxalgo.com/library/indicator/ict-killzones-toolkit/) layers structure detection (order blocks, breakers, gaps and market structure shifts) on top of the same session windows.

### Is the ICT Killzones indicator free?
Yes. It is available at no cost in the LuxAlgo Library, alongside the rest of the house session tools. You can also copy the source code from this page and run it anywhere Pine Script® runs.
