The Easy Entry/Exit Trend Colors (With Alerts) indicator provides a visualized framework for identifying trend momentum and potential entry/exit points by combining MACD analysis with Bollinger Bands and SMA crossover signals.

Usage

The indicator is designed to simplify the identification of trend transitions and momentum shifts. It can be used as a confirmation tool for both trend-following and mean-reversion strategies.

  • MACD & Bollinger Bands: The tool applies Bollinger Bands to the MACD line. When the MACD line crosses above the upper band, a "Bull" label appears alongside green triangles, indicating strong bullish momentum. Conversely, when it crosses below the upper band or lower band, "Bear" labels and red triangles indicate bearish pressure or exit points.
  • Bar Coloring: The script automatically colors price bars to match the trend state. Green bars signify the MACD is above the upper band, while red bars signify the MACD is below the lower band.
  • SMA Crosses: The indicator highlights structural trend changes using "Golden Cross" and "Death Cross" labels based on the relationship between two user-defined Simple Moving Averages (typically the 50 and 200 SMA).
  • Visual Confirmations: Users should look for the confluence of MACD band breakouts and SMA crosses to confirm higher-probability trade setups. It is recommended to use this script on standard candle charts rather than Heikin Ashi to ensure calculation accuracy.

Details

The script is a refactored version of the AK MACD BB indicator, optimized for visual clarity and alert functionality. It functions by calculating the difference between two Exponential Moving Averages (Fast and Slow) to create the MACD line.

Instead of plotting price-based Bollinger Bands, this tool calculates the Standard Deviation of the MACD line itself to create dynamic thresholds. This allows the indicator to detect when momentum is reaching extreme levels relative to its recent average. Additionally, the script incorporates SMA-based structural trend detection to provide a broader market context (Golden and Death crosses) alongside the short-term momentum signals provided by the MACD.

Settings

Bollinger Bands

  • BB Periods: Sets the lookback period used to calculate the Bollinger Bands applied to the MACD.
  • Deviations: Adjusts the width of the bands by changing the standard deviation multiplier.

MACD

  • FastLength: The period for the shorter Exponential Moving Average.
  • SlowLength: The period for the longer Exponential Moving Average.
  • SignalLength: The period for the MACD signal line calculation.
  • Scaling for ALTS: A multiplier used to adjust the indicator's visual scale for different asset classes.
  • % of vertical space used: Controls the vertical compression of the indicator within the pane.

SMA Crosses

  • Short-Term SMA Length: Sets the period for the faster moving average used for Golden/Death crosses.
  • Long-Term SMA Length: Sets the period for the slower moving average used for Golden/Death crosses.

FAQ

What do the triangles represent?

The green triangles indicate that the MACD line is currently above the upper Bollinger Band (bullish momentum), while red triangles indicate the MACD is below the upper band, often signaling a trend weakening or a bearish move.

Why should I avoid using Heikin Ashi candles with this script?

Heikin Ashi candles use averaged price data which can distort the accuracy of the MACD and SMA calculations, leading to signals that do not align with actual market prices.
