# Indicator Configuration Forecasting

Indicator Configuration Forecasting is an indicator on [Vela](https://vela.luxalgo.com/chart), our next-generation charting platform, written in Pine Script®.

Encodes the state of RSI, SMA cross, Supertrend, MACD and ADX into a regime vector, finds the K nearest historical matches, and projects a median forecast path with 25th and 75th percentile bands built from what price actually did next. A transparent, analog-driven way for systematic and discretionary traders to frame forward expectations.

**Indicator Configuration Forecasting** encodes the current state of familiar technical tools (RSI, SMA cross, Supertrend, MACD and ADX) into a regime vector, then applies [KNN analog forecasting](https://www.luxalgo.com/library/concept/knn-analog-forecasting/) to find the historical bars that looked most alike and project what price did next. The output is a median forecast path flanked by 75th and 25th percentile bounds built from real outcomes, not extrapolation. In the spirit of [adaptive parameterization](https://www.luxalgo.com/library/concept/adaptive-parameterization/), you choose which indicators define a "similar" market, and the model matches only on those.

## How to Trade the Indicator Configuration Forecasting?

- **Median path (dashed gray)**: the 50th percentile of matched outcomes, the central expectation over the horizon.
- **Upper bound (dashed green)**: the 75th percentile, the bullish edge of the projection.
- **Lower bound (dashed red)**: the 25th percentile, the bearish edge; a wide spread between bounds signals dispersed outcomes and higher risk.
- **Match labels**: markers on the historical bars chosen as analogs, letting you audit where each projection came from.

Regime design is the craft: enable only SMA Cross and Supertrend for trend continuation studies, RSI alone for mean reversion, or add ADX to isolate strong trends. Overlapping matches are filtered so only distinct events feed the forecast.

## Indicator Configuration Forecasting Settings

- **Top K Neighbors**: how many similar configurations feed the projection. Fewer gives sharper but noisier paths.
- **Forecast Horizon (N)**: how many bars forward the projection extends.
- **Historical Lookback**: how far back the regime search reaches.
- **Indicator toggles**: RSI, SMA Cross, Supertrend, MACD and ADX each switch in or out of the regime definition.
- **Show Individual Match Paths**: overlays the matched historical price paths.
- **Dashboard**: reports matches found, the forecast horizon and the 25th–75th percentile band used for the bounds.

## Frequently Asked Questions

### Is this a predictive model?
It is probabilistic rather than prophetic: projections come from how price actually behaved after similar configurations, presented as a median with percentile bounds. Treat the bands as scenario framing and risk context, not a promise of direction.

### Can I build a trading strategy around it?
Yes. Selecting which indicator states define your regime frames continuation, momentum or mean-reversion approaches, with the bounds guiding targets and risk.

### How do I access it, and are there related tools?
The tool ships free in the LuxAlgo Library, with Quant, our coding agent, on hand to explore it from this page. If nearest-neighbor methods appeal, [KNN Market Architecture](https://www.luxalgo.com/library/indicator/knn-market-architecture/) extends the same family of techniques. You can also copy the source code from this page and run it anywhere Pine Script® runs.
