# Peak Trading Activity Graphs

Peak Trading Activity Graphs is an indicator on [Vela](https://vela.luxalgo.com/chart), our next-generation charting platform, written in Pine Script®.

Aggregates market history into graphs of median volume and volatility by month, day of month, day of week, or hour of day. Each instance draws one graph in one of sixteen configurations, placed in one of three corners. A Median Delta mode rescales readings so the busiest and quietest periods stand out instantly. Session planning made empirical for timing, sizing, and market rotation.

**Peak Trading Activity Graphs** answers a scheduling question with data: when is this market actually busy? It aggregates history into visual graphs of median volume and volatility across four cycles (month, day of month, day of week, and hour of day) turning [time-of-day effects](https://www.luxalgo.com/library/concept/intraday-time-of-day-effects/) and calendar rhythms into something you can read at a glance. Medians are used deliberately, filtering the outliers that distort averages.

Each instance draws one graph in one of sixteen distinct configurations, and adding the tool again in another corner lets you compare data types or periods for the chart's symbol side by side; all values display in exchange time.

## How to Trade the Peak Trading Activity Graphs?

- **Hot hours or days**: concentrate execution where median volume peaks: participation is historically deepest there, while low-activity windows are the ones prone to slippage.
- **Quiet stretches**: periods of historically low volatility suit range and mean-reversion trading better than breakout hunting.
- **Median Delta on**: readings rescale from 0 (lowest median) to 100 (highest), exposing differences that look flat in raw values.
- **Volatility view**: shows when movement, not just volume, historically expands, an input for sizing and strategy selection.

The month and day-of-month views double as [seasonality tooling](https://www.luxalgo.com/library/concept/seasonality-tooling/), showing which parts of the year and month have historically carried participation.

## Frequently Asked Questions

### What does the Median Delta mode change?
It converts raw medians into relative percentages, pinning the lowest period at 0 and the highest at 100. Two periods whose raw bars look nearly identical become easy to rank.

### How is this different from the Periodic Activity Tracker?
This tool is a statistical review: median behavior per period across history. The [Periodic Activity Tracker](https://www.luxalgo.com/library/indicator/periodic-activity-tracker/) accumulates live buy and sell volume as each period unfolds, so the two pair naturally: one for planning, one for monitoring.

### How do I access Peak Trading Activity Graphs?
It's free via the LuxAlgo Library. It can also be loaded into Quant, our coding agent, from this page to explore activity profiles interactively. You can also copy the source code from this page and run it anywhere Pine Script® runs.
