# Range Sentiment Profile

Range Sentiment Profile is an indicator on [Vela](https://vela.luxalgo.com/chart), our next-generation charting platform, written in Pine Script®.

Splits the recent price range into equidistant rows and measures whether net price variation in each leaned bullish or bearish, volume-profile style. Blue bins flag buyer-dominated areas and orange bins seller-dominated ones, with extended maxima lines and an optional intrabar mode for finer sentiment readings across the range.

**Range Sentiment Profile** splits the recent [trading range](https://www.luxalgo.com/library/concept/trading-range/) into equidistant rows and measures whether price variations inside each row leaned bullish or bearish. Instead of volume, every bin accumulates close-to-open differences, so the display reveals which price areas buyers controlled, which sellers owned, and where the fight was even.

## How to Trade the Range Sentiment Profile?

- **Blue bins**: net bullish close-to-open variation. Buyers dominated that price area.
- **Orange bins**: net bearish variation. Sellers had control there.
- **Bullish / bearish maxima**: lines extended across the whole range spotlight the single most bullish and most bearish zones.
- **Short or empty bins**: variations alternated and canceled out, balanced areas that can act as support or resistance, stalling or reversing price on entry.

Each bin prints a percentage (its share of the summed variation across the range), making dominance easy to compare row by row. The construction mirrors profile tools such as the [delta profile](https://www.luxalgo.com/library/concept/delta-profile/), but because it is computed from price variation alone it needs no volume data at all.

## Range Sentiment Profile Settings

- **Length**: the number of recent bars the profile is calculated over.
- **Rows**: how many equidistant areas the range is divided into. More rows, finer granularity.
- **Use Intrabar**: counts variations only when the intrabar candle actually sits inside an area, sharpening precision at extra computational cost.
- **Intrabar timeframe** (the unlabeled field next to Use Intrabar, default 1 minute): the timeframe of the intrabar data used by that mode.

## Frequently Asked Questions

### Why enable intrabar data?

It recalibrates the profile so close-to-open differences are only attributed to a row when the lower-timeframe candle truly falls within it. The result is a more precise sentiment read, traded against longer calculation time.

### How does this differ from a volume-based profile?

This build swaps volume for close-to-open price variation, so it captures directional pressure even on symbols without dependable volume.
