# Relative Crypto Dominance Polar Chart

Relative Crypto Dominance Polar Chart is an indicator on [Vela](https://vela.luxalgo.com/chart), our next-generation charting platform, written in Pine Script®.

Compares the dominance of up to ten cryptocurrencies on one polar area chart, mapping volatility to each slice's radius and traded dollar volume to its arc. Larger areas mean greater dominance, with hourly-to-yearly periods, automatic period selection, sorting, and deep styling control. A one-glance market share read for crypto traders.

**Relative Crypto Dominance Polar Chart** condenses the [relative strength](https://www.luxalgo.com/library/concept/relative-strength-comparative/) of up to ten cryptocurrencies into a single polar area chart, blending traded dollar volume with volatility to estimate each coin's dominance. Every slice maps volatility to its radius and dollar volume to its arc length, so the larger the area, the more that ticker currently dominates the field.

## How to Trade the Relative Crypto Dominance Polar Chart?

- **Larger area**: greater relative dominance for that ticker over the selected period.
- **Long radius, narrow arc**: a volatile coin without matching dollar volume (plenty of movement, thinner participation).
- **Wide arc, short radius**: heavy turnover with muted volatility, dominance built on participation rather than swings.
- **Sorted layout**: order the areas by volatility, ascending or descending, to turn the wheel into a ranked comparison.

The default basket holds the ten largest cryptocurrencies by market cap, though any tickers can be substituted. Period selection runs from hourly to yearly, and auto mode picks it from the chart's timeframe: hourly on the fastest intraday charts, scaling up to yearly on high-timeframe views.

## Relative Crypto Dominance Polar Chart Settings

## Frequently Asked Questions

### What exactly does "dominance" mean here?

It is a relative measure blending each ticker's traded dollar volume with its volatility over the selected period. A coin can dominate through heavy turnover, outsized movement, or both, and the chart's geometry separates the two at a glance.

### Can it help with market-regime reads?

Many traders watch it for rotation between majors and alts as risk appetite shifts. Pairing it with [Stablecoin Dominance](https://www.luxalgo.com/library/indicator/stablecoin-dominance/) adds the defensive side of the picture: capital parking in stablecoins rather than rotating between coins.

### How do I access the Relative Crypto Dominance Polar Chart?

It is free on the LuxAlgo Library; add it to a chart and the polar graph renders automatically with the default ten-coin basket. You can also copy the source code from this page and run it anywhere Pine Script® runs.
