# Rolling VWAP Channel

A percentile channel distilled from up to 500 rolling VWAPs, each anchored at a different bar. Where the volume-weighted averages cluster, the channel exposes consolidation zones that often precede breakouts; percentile lines, anchor period, and pool size are all configurable. Suits mean-reversion and breakout traders alike.

**Rolling VWAP Channel** computes an entire population of [rolling VWAP](https://www.luxalgo.com/library/concept/rolling-vwap/) lines (up to 500, each anchored at the start of a new period) and distills them into a percentile-based channel. Rather than trusting a single average, it ranks every VWAP in the pool and interpolates the price below which a chosen share of them sit, exposing where the market's volume-weighted consensus actually concentrates.

The pool rolls by construction: once the count exceeds the configured amount, the oldest VWAP is dropped and a new one starts from the current bar. No manual re-anchoring, no stale references: the channel stays representative of present conditions.

## How to Trade the Rolling VWAP Channel?

- **Clustered VWAPs**: many averages bunching at one price signal consolidation or indecision: dynamic support/resistance and the staging ground for breakouts.
- **50th percentile line**: the median volume-weighted price, with half the pool below it, a natural equilibrium reference for mean-reversion rotations.
- **Reaction at cluster zones**: rejection or acceptance at these levels often resolves into the next directional move, useful for both continuation and reversal timing.
- **Percentile spread**: reading several lines together (25th, 50th, and 75th are common picks) shows how tightly the consensus is packed.

The channel reads like [VWAP bands](https://www.luxalgo.com/library/concept/vwap-bands/) built from ranks instead of standard deviations, a meaningful difference, because VWAP values are rarely distributed evenly and plain averages hide the levels that matter.

## Rolling VWAP Channel Settings

- **Anchor Period**: timeframe that starts each new VWAP in the pool.
- **VWAP Source**: price input for the calculations.
- **VWAP Amount**: how many rolling VWAPs to track at once; more builds a fuller distribution.
- **Toggle / Percentile / Width**: enable each channel line, set its percentile value, and adjust its thickness.
- **Calculated Bars**: caps how much history is processed; 0 analyzes the full range.

## Frequently Asked Questions

### Why percentiles instead of simply averaging the VWAPs?

Because the pool is rarely uniform: an average smears its structure, while percentile interpolation preserves where values genuinely pile up. Those pile-ups are the tradeable levels.

### How does this differ from a classic anchored VWAP?

An [Anchored VWAP](https://www.luxalgo.com/library/indicator/anchored-vwap/) runs one average from a single anchor you pick; this channel runs hundreds from automatic anchors and studies their distribution. One is a conviction tool, the other a consensus map.

### Is the Rolling VWAP Channel free to use?

Yes. It is available at no cost on the LuxAlgo Library. You can also copy the source code from this page and run it anywhere Pine Script® runs.
