# Support Resistance Classification

Derives support and resistance levels from higher-timeframe references (moving averages, band extremes, previous highs and lows, Fibonacci pivots, or swings) over a fixed lookback, then grades each from 1 (strongest) to 10. Up to five value sets can be displayed at once for comparison. For traders who want their levels ranked, not just drawn.

**Support Resistance Classification** doesn't just draw levels: it grades them. Working across a preset lookback window, it derives [support and resistance levels](https://www.luxalgo.com/library/concept/s-r-zone/) from higher-timeframe references and assigns each a rank from 1 to 10, with the lower numbers marking the stronger levels. The output is a shortlist you can prioritize at a glance. This is the fixed-lookback, non-VR build: it deliberately omits visible-range functionality because the two techniques cannot share one script.

## How to Trade the Support Resistance Classification?

- **Rank 1 is the anchor**: the strongest classified levels are the first candidates for anticipated reactions and reversals.
- **Carry HTF levels down**: identify long-term levels from higher-timeframe data, then trade around them on your execution timeframe.
- **Breaks span the whole line**: whether 'value' or 'entire line' is active, breaks are always evaluated on the complete line, keeping breakout reads consistent.
- **Non-broken swings count**: unbroken swing points feed the calculation, sharpening the forward-looking value of the levels.

## Support Resistance Classification Settings

- **Lookback**: how many bars back from the current bar the calculation covers.
- **Fade**: hides a level after a chosen number of breaks.
- **Value / line**: whether breaks are judged on the latest value or the entire line, per reference type: SMA, upper/lower band, Fibonacci pivot point levels, previous high/low, or swings.
- **Left/Right & Show**: swing pivot detection, always on the chart timeframe, with optional pivot display.
- **N°, TYPE, LENGTH, MULT, HTF**: per-set choices of reference, calculation length, deviation multiplier, and higher timeframe; up to five values (swings excepted) can be displayed for verification.

## Frequently Asked Questions

### Why do lower numbers mean stronger levels?

The classification scores each level over the lookback window, and levels with more significant historical trading activity earn ranks closer to 1, suggesting a stronger future price response. Read the scale like a leaderboard.

### When should I use the VR version instead?

[Support Resistance Classification (VR)](https://www.luxalgo.com/library/indicator/support-resistance-classification-vr/) runs the same grading over the visible chart range and recalculates as you scroll, which suits exploratory work. This build fixes the window with its Lookback setting: steadier levels, independent of the current view.

### Is the indicator free?

Yes, it's available at no cost in the LuxAlgo Library, and this page can open it directly in Quant, our coding agent, if you want to compare value configurations across history. You can also copy the source code from this page and run it anywhere Pine Script® runs.
