# TICK Arbitrage Toolkit

TICK Arbitrage Toolkit is an indicator on [Vela](https://vela.luxalgo.com/chart), our next-generation charting platform, written in Pine Script®.

Streams NYSE TICK or NASDAQ TICKQ market breadth directly onto your price bars, grading internal pressure through three extension levels with intensifying color and session high/low labels. Reading each bar's most extreme TICK print catches spikes that live and die inside a single bar. Built for index scalpers and mean-reversion traders timing exhaustion in the S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100.

**TICK Arbitrage Toolkit** paints market breadth directly onto your price bars, so you never leave the chart to read internals. It streams the [TICK index](https://www.luxalgo.com/library/concept/tick-index/) (NYSE TICK or NASDAQ TICKQ) as a color gradient that intensifies while internal pressure builds, grades every push through three extension levels, and labels fresh session extremes in the data itself. Index scalpers and mean-reversion traders use it to time exhaustion.

## How to Trade the TICK Arbitrage Toolkit?

- **Extension 1 — single marker**: early internal expansion; the toolkit begins tracking for potential new session highs or lows in the reading.
- **Extension 2 — double marker**: pressure is building, the stage where fade setups get prepared and risk gets tightened.
- **Extension 3 — triple marker, full opacity**: a complete internal extreme, and a potential high-probability zone for mean-reversion entries against the spike.
- **NHOD / NLOD labels**: the selected TICK source printed a new high or low of day. Is the move expanding participation or exhausting into a final push?

Because Include High/Low Extremes reads each bar's TICK high or low, whichever sits furthest from zero, spikes that appear and vanish inside one chart bar still register, visibility that suits scalping liquidity grabs and confirming short-term reversals.

## TICK Arbitrage Toolkit Settings

- **TICK Source**: NYSE TICK for S&P 500 work, NASDAQ TICKQ for Nasdaq 100 analysis.
- **Refresh Frequency**: the timeframe the TICK data is requested on; Chart (default) covers each full chart bar, while 1-second or 5-second settings read only the latest sample inside each chart bar.
- **Include High/Low Extremes**: evaluates the highest and lowest TICK values in each window instead of closes only, so brief stress spikes are not missed.
- **Extension 1, 2, 3** (defaults 800, 1000, 1200): the thresholds that classify how stretched internal breadth is.
- **Marker Style, colors and dashboard**: circles, triangles or none, plus an on-chart stats table with position and size controls.

## Frequently Asked Questions

### Which markets suit the TICK Arbitrage Toolkit?

US index products, since the breadth feeds it reads cover NYSE and NASDAQ constituents. Lower timeframes tend to get the most from it, because internal extremes usually resolve within minutes rather than sessions.

### How is this different from a breadth dashboard?

It commits to a single internal series and renders it where decisions happen: on price. If you want breadth context beyond one series, the [Market Breadth Toolkit](https://www.luxalgo.com/library/indicator/market-breadth-toolkit/) takes the wider view; this tool is the timing instrument.

### Is the TICK Arbitrage Toolkit free?

Yes. It is part of the free LuxAlgo Library, and you can run or backtest it in Quant, our coding agent, straight from this page. No subscription is needed to put it on a chart. You can also copy the source code from this page and run it anywhere Pine Script® runs.
