# Volume Bubbles & Liquidity Heatmap

Volume Bubbles & Liquidity Heatmap is an indicator on [Vela](https://vela.luxalgo.com/chart), our next-generation charting platform, written in Pine Script®.

Volume Bubbles & Liquidity Heatmap draws each higher-timeframe period's volume as a sized, color-coded bubble (total, buy/sell split, or delta) over a heatmap of traded volume per price zone. Bubbles reveal whether buyers or sellers ran each period; the heatmap shows where liquidity concentrates, putting multi-timeframe volume context on one chart.

**Volume Bubbles & Liquidity Heatmap** combines two complementary volume studies. Bubbles summarize each higher-timeframe period (in the default Buy & Sell mode, sized by total volume and split into green buy and red sell portions; Total mode colors the whole bubble by the dominant side, and Delta mode sizes it by the net imbalance), while a [liquidity heatmap](https://www.luxalgo.com/library/concept/resting-liquidity-liquidity-heatmap/) divides the chart into horizontal price zones and shades each by the volume transacted there. The bubbles answer who is in control; the heatmap answers where price is most likely to react.

## How to Trade the Volume Bubbles & Liquidity Heatmap?

- **Bubble color and size**: green for buyer dominance, red for sellers; larger bubbles mean heavier participation in that period.
- **Delta mode**: the net of buying minus selling per bubble. A weakening delta from one period to the next hints at a changing of the guard.
- **Red heatmap cells**: the most liquid price zones, prime candidates for support, resistance, and rejection; blue cells mark thin territory.
- **Confluence**: price holding above liquid zones with positive delta favors continuation, while heavy negative delta pressing into a high-liquidity zone raises reversal odds.

The chart timeframe and the bubble timeframe are deliberately independent: weekly bubbles on an hourly chart, for instance, spread out cleanly and stay legible. By default the tool plots daily bubbles across the last 2,000 bars. Everything is redrawn on each confirmed bar: the current period's bubble grows until that period closes, every bubble is rescaled against the largest period in view, and heatmap rows are re-divided whenever price extends the range and recalculated as the window rolls forward, so zone boundaries can shift. Volume figures for completed periods do not change; treat the heatmap as evolving context rather than fixed levels.

## Volume Bubbles & Liquidity Heatmap Settings

- **Execute on last X bars**: how much history the tool processes.
- **Bubble Mode / Bubble Timeframe**: Total, Buy & Sell, or Delta volume, aggregated per chosen period.
- **Bubble Size % / Bubble Shape**: overall scale and vertical stretch for readability.
- **Heatmap Rows / Cell Minimum Size**: the number of price divisions and each cell's minimum size.
- Labels, separators, the heatmap toggle, and all colors are adjustable.

## Frequently Asked Questions

### Can I use the heatmap without the bubbles?

Yes. Each component toggles independently, so you can run just the liquidity zones, just the bubbles, or both together depending on how much you want on the chart.

### When should I prefer the Volume Anchored Price Map?

Reach for [Volume Anchored Price Map](https://www.luxalgo.com/library/indicator/volume-anchored-price-map/) when you want only statistically exceptional volume, anchored into forward levels. Stay here when you want every period summarized and a full map of where liquidity accumulated.

### How do I get access to the indicator?

Free. The LuxAlgo Library hosts it at no cost, and it loads into Quant, our coding agent, directly from this page. You can also copy the source code from this page and run it anywhere Pine Script® runs.
