# Waddah Attar Explosion

Waddah Attar Explosion is an indicator on [Vela](https://vela.luxalgo.com/chart), our next-generation charting platform, written in Pine Script®.

The definitive clean build of the Waddah Attar Explosion: trend power columns from the sensitivity-scaled change of a 20/40 EMA MACD line, read against an explosion line set by the 20-period, 2-deviation Bollinger Band width and a configurable dead zone floor. Columns stay dimmed until directional energy clears both gates, reserving full color for tradeable expansion.

**Waddah Attar Explosion** is the classic go / no-go gate, rebuilt clean. Following the [Waddah Attar Explosion](https://www.luxalgo.com/library/concept/waddah-attar-explosion/) construction, trend power columns plot the bar-to-bar change of a 20/40 EMA MACD line scaled by a sensitivity of 150 (green for upward pressure, red for downward) against an explosion line set to the width of 20-period, 2-deviation Bollinger Bands, plus a dead zone noise floor. Columns that fail either gate print dimmed, reserving full color for momentum that exceeds ambient churn.

## How to Trade the Waddah Attar Explosion?

- **Column breaks above the explosion line** (clear of the dead zone): momentum expanding faster than the volatility envelope, the go condition.
- **Column falls back below the explosion line**: energy no longer clears ambient volatility; the gate closes.
- **Color flip**: pressure changed sides. Green permits longs, red permits shorts, in the classic reading.
- **Dead zone exit**: readings climbed out of the noise floor and count again.

All of these events carry alerts, split by direction where applicable. It gates trades; it sets no stops or targets, so pair it with structure.

## Waddah Attar Explosion Settings

- **Source** (default close): feeds both the MACD line and the Bollinger width.
- **Fast EMA Length** (default 20), **Slow EMA Length** (default 40): the MACD pair at the classic defaults.
- **Sensitivity** (default 150): scales the MACD change into columns readable against the width.
- **Bollinger Length** (default 20), **Bollinger Multiplier** (default 2): the bands whose width forms the explosion line.
- **Basis** (default ATR Multiple): dead zone derivation, via **ATR Length** (default 100) and **ATR Multiplier** (default 3.7), or **Fixed Size (Ticks)** (default 20) for a constant floor.
- Style toggles: **Dim Filtered Columns** (default enabled), **Explosion Gradient** (default enabled), and the colors.

## Frequently Asked Questions

### How does it compare to the TTM Squeeze?

The [TTM Squeeze](https://www.luxalgo.com/library/indicator/ttm-squeeze/) waits for compression (bands inside channels) and trades the release. The Explosion skips the squeeze state and asks bar by bar whether momentum beats the volatility envelope. One anticipates expansion; this one certifies it.

### Why are some columns dimmed?

Their magnitude failed the gate: below the explosion line, the dead zone, or both. Dimming keeps history visible while making tradeable bars unmistakable; Dim Filtered Columns disables it.

### Should the dead zone be ATR-based or fixed?

ATR Multiple (the 100-bar ATR times 3.7) adapts the floor to each symbol and timeframe and is the default. Fixed (Ticks) mirrors the original fixed-point threshold, sensible on a single instrument where the floor should never move.
