Buy/Sell Hull Crossover Signals (Fast & Slow)
Nov 16, 2025

The Buy/Sell Hull Crossover Signals (Fast & Slow) indicator identifies momentum shifts and trend transitions by tracking the relationship between two Hull Moving Averages (HMA) of different periods.
Usage
The indicator can be used to identify entry and exit points based on the crossover of a fast-period HMA and a slow-period HMA.
- Bullish Signal: Triggered when the fast HMA crosses above the slow HMA, typically suggesting an upward momentum shift.
- Bearish Signal: Triggered when the fast HMA crosses below the slow HMA, indicating a downward momentum shift.
Traders can utilize the visual ribbon between the two averages to gauge the strength of the current trend. A green ribbon indicates a bullish regime, while a red ribbon indicates a bearish regime. For traders looking for more conservative entries, the "Confirm signals on bar close" setting ensures that signals only appear once a candle has finalized, preventing premature entries during volatile price action.
Details
The Hull Moving Average (HMA) is designed to reduce lag while maintaining smoothness, making it more responsive than a standard Simple Moving Average (SMA). By using two HMAs, this script captures the "golden cross" and "death cross" mechanics but with the increased speed inherent to the Hull calculation. The script also includes a background regime coloring feature to help traders maintain a clear bias of the market environment at a glance.
Settings
- Fast HMA Length: Determines the lookback period for the fast-moving average.
- Slow HMA Length: Determines the lookback period for the slow-moving average.
- Source: The price data used for HMA calculations (e.g., Close, Open, HL2).
- Confirm signals on bar close: When enabled, signals will only trigger after the current candle closes to reduce repainting.
- Show Buy/Sell labels: Toggles the visibility of the "BUY" and "SELL" text labels on the chart.
- Color background by regime: When enabled, shades the chart background based on whether the fast HMA is above or below the slow HMA.
- Show ribbon/cloud between HMAs: Toggles the visibility of the colored area between the two averages.
- Ribbon opacity: Controls the transparency of the cloud/ribbon.
- Bull/Bear ribbon color: Customizes the colors used for the bullish and bearish trend visualizations.
