The All4 - Multi-Period Momentum indicator provides a comprehensive view of market momentum by aggregating multiple oscillators and volume-based data into a single cohesive signal.

Usage

The Usage section describes how the script can be used to identify trend direction, volatility, and potential reversal points.

  • Momentum Identification: The primary All4 line serves as a broad-spectrum momentum gauge. When the line is rising and green, it indicates strengthening bullish momentum; when falling and red, it suggests bearish momentum.
  • Overbought/Oversold (OB/OS): Users can monitor the All4 line against configurable threshold levels (default 75 and 25). Entering or exiting these zones can signal potential exhaustion or the start of a significant trend.
  • Fast Line Interaction: The fast line (purple) reacts more quickly to price changes. Divergences or crossovers between the main All4 line and the fast line can provide early warnings of shifting sentiment.
  • Status Lines: Four lines at the top and bottom of the indicator pane provide at-a-glance context:
    • Volatility: Indicates if the All4 line is currently volatile.
    • Ranging: Shows if the indicator is currently trapped in a tight range.
    • Sentiment: Displays whether All4 is in bullish (>55) or bearish (<45) territory.
    • Long-term Trend: Monitors the slope of the 200-period Moving Average to provide trend context.

Details

The indicator is constructed using a weighted average of several distinct components to ensure a balanced perspective across different lookback periods. The core "All4" calculation is a weighted mix of:

  • Four Stochastic RSI K-lines with varying lengths (14, 21, 42, and 90).
  • A standard 14-period RSI.
  • A 14-period Money Flow Index (MFI) to incorporate volume dynamics.

By combining these inputs, the script smooths out noise found in individual oscillators while maintaining sensitivity to multi-period market shifts. The fast line uses a shorter-period RSI and MFI blend to provide a more reactive signal.

Settings

  • Show Fast Line?: Toggles the visibility of the reactive fast momentum line.
  • All4 Overbought/Oversold level: Sets the horizontal thresholds for the main signal.
  • Fast Line Length: Controls the calculation period for the fast line components.
  • Show All4 pivots?: Plots markers on the signal line when local highs or lows are detected.
  • Show big swings?: Displays arrows when the All4 line moves more than a specified threshold in a single period.
  • Volatility/Ranging Thresholds: Fine-tune the logic that determines the state of the status lines.

FAQ

How do I interpret the "Big Swing" arrows?

Big Swing arrows appear when the momentum signal shifts rapidly within a single bar. An upward arrow suggests a sudden burst of bullish momentum, while a downward arrow suggests a sharp bearish drop.

What do the circles on the All4 line mean?

Depending on your settings, these circles represent crossovers between the All4 line and its Moving Average, or entries/exits from the Overbought and Oversold zones.
