The 5 EMAs plus Crossing Alerts indicator provides a multi-layered moving average system designed to identify trend direction and potential entry points through EMA crossovers.

Usage

The indicator can be used for both manual scalping and automated trading bots. It plots five Exponential Moving Averages (EMAs) that serve as signal, baseline, and trend filters.

  • Long Signals: Triggered when EMA 1 (Signal line) crosses EMA 2 (Baseline) while the price action/EMA 1 is above EMA 3 (Trendline). These are marked by a green triangle below the candle.
  • Short Signals: Triggered when EMA 1 (Signal line) crosses EMA 2 (Baseline) while the price action/EMA 1 is below EMA 3 (Trendline). These are marked by a red triangle above the candle.

The labels and alert conditions are specifically optimized for easy integration with third-party trading bots or for setting standard TradingView alerts.

Details

The script calculates five distinct EMAs based on user-defined lengths. The core logic relies on the interaction between the first three EMAs:

  1. EMA 1 (Signal): The fastest moving average used for immediate price sentiment.
  2. EMA 2 (Baseline): Used in conjunction with the Signal line to identify momentum shifts via crossovers.
  3. EMA 3 (Trendline): Acts as a directional filter; trades are only signaled if the crossover occurs on the correct side of this line to ensure alignment with the intermediate trend.

EMA 4 and EMA 5 provide additional layers of support and resistance or higher-timeframe trend context.

Settings

  • EMA1: Sets the period for the first EMA (Signal line).
  • EMA2: Sets the period for the second EMA (Baseline).
  • EMA3: Sets the period for the third EMA (Trendline).
  • EMA4: Sets the period for the fourth EMA.
  • EMA5: Sets the period for the fifth EMA.

FAQ

How do I use the alerts for automation?

The script includes predefined alert conditions for Long and Short signals. You can create an alert in TradingView by selecting the indicator and choosing the "Long EMA Signal" or "Short EMA Signal" condition to link to your webhook or notification.

What are the recommended settings for scalping?

While the defaults are 6, 9, 14, 26, and 55, users often customize these based on their timeframe. It is recommended that EMA1 is shorter than EMA2, and EMA2 is shorter than or equal to EMA3 for the trend-filtering logic to function as intended.
