The LordPepe Stochastic Signals indicator is a comprehensive trend-following and momentum tool designed to identify optimal accumulation points during downtrends and profit-taking levels during uptrends. By combining MESA adaptive moving averages with a specialized Wavetrend oscillator, the script helps traders manage position sizing by highlighting overbought and oversold extremes.

Usage

The tool is primarily used to "stack" positions during oversold conditions and scale out during overbought conditions.

  • Accumulation (OS): When the indicator identifies "Oversold" levels (OS), it signals potential buying opportunities to accumulate assets during a downtrend.
  • Profit Taking (OB): When "Overbought" levels (OB) are reached, the script signals levels for partial profit taking. It is recommended to release only a portion of the position (e.g., < 25%) rather than treating these as full reversal signals.
  • MESA Engine: The MESA moving averages (MAMA and FAMA) provide trend direction. A bullish cloud forms when MAMA is above FAMA, while a bearish cloud forms when MAMA is below FAMA.
  • Signal Levels: The script features three distinct levels of intensity for signals:
    • Level 1: Weakest signals for early warnings.
    • Level 2: Medium-strength signals.
    • Level 3: Strongest signals, often used for primary decision-making.

Details

The script utilizes the MESA (Mesa Adaptive Moving Average) algorithm which adapts to price activity to reduce lag while maintaining smoothness. It further integrates a volume-based smoothing option to give more weight to high-activity bars. The momentum signals are derived from a modified Wavetrend calculation, which is cross-referenced with volume Z-scores and percentile ranks to ensure signals occur during statistically significant price movements.

Settings

MESA Engine

  • Volume Based MESA: Smoothes the calculation based on trading activity.
  • Fast/Slow MESA Length: Adjusts the reactiveness of the FAMA and MAMA lines.
  • Enable MESA for Higher Timeframe: Overlays trend data from a secondary, higher timeframe.
  • MESA MA Colored Bars: Colors the price bars based on the current MESA trend.

WaveSignal

  • WT Channel/Average Length: Controls the smoothing of the Wavetrend oscillator.
  • Z-Score Volume Period: Sets the lookback for volume statistical analysis.
  • Signal Levels (OB/OS): Customizes the numerical thresholds for the three levels of overbought and oversold signals.
  • Display Toggles: Allows users to enable or disable specific signal levels (1, 2, or 3) on the chart.

Dashboard & Oscillators

  • Novice Mode: Switches table status text to more descriptive, beginner-friendly terminology.
  • Trend Strength Analysis Length: Lookback period for calculating trend volatility and Z-scores.
  • RSI/MFI/HMA/BB Settings: Configures the secondary indicators used within the information dashboard.

FAQ

How do I access LordPepe Stochastic Signals?

You can get access on the LuxAlgo Library for charting platforms like TradingView, MetaTrader (MT4/MT5), and NinjaTrader for free.

What do the OB and OS labels mean?

OB stands for Overbought (potential sell/profit-taking zone) and OS stands for Oversold (potential buy/accumulation zone).

Should I sell my entire position on an OB signal?

The script is designed for trend management; OB signals typically suggest releasing a small portion (e.g., 25%) of a stack rather than signaling a full trend reversal.
