The Engulfing Breakout Structure indicator provides a professional-grade analysis tool designed to filter market noise and identify the true origins of significant price movements by validating engulfing patterns through breakout structures. Unlike standard engulfing indicators, this script only confirms a structure once price decisively breaks away from the initial range, ensuring higher probability zones are identified.

Usage

The indicator follows a strict confirmation process to identify high-probability zones:

  • Structure Formation: The script internally tracks candidate engulfing candles without plotting them immediately to avoid clutter.
  • Break-away Validation: A zone is only drawn on the chart after price aggressively breaks out of the engulfing range, accompanied by a Fair Value Gap (FVG).
  • Historical Anchoring: Once the breakout is confirmed, the block is back-plotted to its origin, highlighting the exact area of market imbalance.

Users can trade these structures in two primary ways:

  1. Aggressive Entry: Enter as soon as the EBS block and FVG appear, following the immediate momentum of the breakout.
  2. Conservative Entry: Wait for the price to return and "mitigate" the EBS block. This retest of a confirmed breakout structure highlights institutional interest and often provides a better risk-to-reward ratio.

Details

The script integrates several smart components to ensure quality signals. It utilizes a Break-away Filter to eliminate low-probability signals where price remains in a "zone of indecision." Additionally, it features Dynamic Structure Plotting for supply and demand blocks and Smart FVG Integration to highlight gaps created during the breakout process. The tool also includes swing point detection (Short-term, Intermediate, and Long-term) and swing range visualization to provide broader market context.

FVG

  • FairValue / Breakaway: Toggles visibility for standard Fair Value Gaps and Breakaway Gaps.
  • Only Show Break-away from Engulfing: Filters FVGs to only show those that occur in confluence with an EBS breakout.

Swing Points & Range

  • ST/IT/LT: Toggles visibility for Short-term, Intermediate, and Long-term swing points.
  • Swing Range Show: Displays the current trading range based on selected swing point terms.

FAQ

How do I use the EBS alerts?

The script includes alerts for "Break-away Confirmed" (new zone established) and "Structure Tested" (mitigation), which can be configured in the indicator settings and the TradingView alerts menu.

What is the difference between an EBS block and a standard engulfing candle?

A standard engulfing candle is just a two-bar pattern, whereas an EBS block requires a subsequent aggressive breakout and an FVG to be validated as a significant market structure.
