Swing or scalping GOLD
Apr 18, 2021

The Swing or scalping GOLD indicator is a trend-following tool designed to identify active market trends using a combination of Price Action Channels (PAC) and multiple exponential moving averages. It aims to provide clear entry points for both scalpers and swing traders by visualizing support and resistance zones through dynamic ribbons and clouds.
Usage
The indicator can be used to identify trend direction and potential entry points based on the price relationship with the "cloud" (Price Action Channel).
- Trend Identification: When the price is trading above the Price Action Channel, the trend is considered bullish. Conversely, when the price is below the channel, the trend is considered bearish.
- Bullish Entries: Look for buy signals (green candles) when the price breaks above and exits the top of the cloud. This is often more effective when the price is also above the medium-term EMA filter.
- Bearish Entries: Look for sell signals (red candles) when the price breaks below and exits the bottom of the cloud.
- Support/Resistance: The three key moving averages (Fast, Medium, Slow) act as dynamic support and resistance. Price bounces off these levels can offer additional confirmation for trend continuation.
- Bar Coloring: The script includes a bar coloring feature that highlights green bars for bullish momentum above the PAC and red bars for bearish momentum below it.
Details
The script utilizes a Price Action Channel (PAC) calculated using EMAs of the high, low, and close prices over a specific length. This creates a "cloud" that filters minor price fluctuations. Additionally, it employs a multi-EMA strategy:
- EMA 5 & 11: Forms a short-term ribbon (EMA 12 Channel) for quick momentum shifts.
- EMA 89, 200, & 633: Used for daily or standard timeframes to establish major trend bias.
- Timeframe Adaptation: The script automatically adjusts its long-term EMA inputs (Fast, Medium, Slow) when used on 1-minute charts to ensure the trend detection remains relevant for high-frequency scalping.
Settings
Main Settings
- Show Price Action Channel (PAC): Toggles the visibility of the high/low/close EMA cloud.
- Show coloured Bars close relative on PAC: Enables or disables bar coloring based on the price position relative to the PAC.
- High Low PAC Length: Determines the lookback period for the EMAs used to construct the Price Action Channel.
- Filter PAC Alerts with 200ema: When enabled, buy alerts are only triggered if the price is above the medium-term EMA, and sell alerts only if below it.
- Show EMA 12 Channel: Toggles the short-term EMA 5 and EMA 11 ribbon.
- Show EMA 36 Ribbon: Toggles the visibility of the 36-period EMA ribbon (conditional logic applied).
FAQ
How do I use the cloud for entries?
The most effective entries occur at the very beginning of a trend when the price starts to leave the cloud. Entering at the breakout point helps in minimizing potential stop losses.
Can this be used for assets other than Gold?
Yes, while optimized for Gold and major currency pairs, the multi-EMA approach is applicable to various liquid financial instruments across different timeframes.
How can I access Swing or scalping GOLD?
You can get access on the LuxAlgo Library for charting platforms like TradingView, MetaTrader (MT4/MT5), and NinjaTrader for free.
