SuperTrend+ Duo
Aug 19, 2021

The SuperTrend+ Duo indicator utilizes two synchronized SuperTrend+ calculations to identify confirmed trend reversals and high-probability entry points through a multi-layered analysis. By tracking a minor trend within the context of a major trend, the tool aims to detect pullbacks after a structural turning point to signal optimal market entries.
Usage
The SuperTrend+ Duo is used to find synergy between long-term trend direction and short-term price fluctuations. When the major trend changes direction, the script enters a monitoring phase; a signal is generated once the minor trend aligns with the major trend or when momentum (via Stochastic RSI) confirms the move.
- Bullish Confirmation: Occurs when the Major Trend is positive and either the Minor Trend turns positive or the Stochastic RSI reaches an overbought threshold.
- Bearish Confirmation: Occurs when the Major Trend is negative and either the Minor Trend turns negative or the Stochastic RSI reaches an oversold threshold.
- Pullback Entries: By observing the Minor Trend lines relative to the thicker Major Trend lines, traders can identify temporary corrections within a larger trend for potential re-entries.
Details
The script integrates advanced "SuperTrend+" logic, which features volatility filtering and confirmation requirements. Unlike a standard SuperTrend, this version includes a "Close Bars" parameter, requiring price to remain beyond the threshold for a specific duration before a reversal is confirmed. It also employs a "Max Deviation" filter to exclude extreme outlier price spikes from the ATR calculation. The final signals are filtered through a Stochastic RSI momentum oscillator to ensure that the trend shift is backed by sufficient price velocity.
Settings
Major / Minor Trend
- Mode: Selects the averaging function (SMA, EMA, WMA, VWMA, or VAWMA) used for the ATR calculation.
- Period: The lookback period for the ATR calculation.
- Multiplier: The factor applied to the ATR to set the distance of the trend bands.
- Close Bars: The number of consecutive bars that must close beyond the band to trigger a trend change.
Volatility Filtering
- Max Deviation: Filters out extreme true range values that exceed this deviation threshold, helping to stabilize the indicator during anomalous volatility.
Momentum (Stochastic RSI)
- K & D: The smoothing parameters for the Stochastic components.
- RSI & Stochastic Lengths: The lookback periods for the underlying RSI and the subsequent Stochastic calculation.
Display
- Show Buy/Sell Signals: Toggles the visibility of the primary trend confirmation labels.
- Highlighter On/Off: Toggles the background shading between the price and the major trend line.
FAQ
How do I interpret the warning colors?
The indicator uses a specific "Warning" color (blue) on the trend lines when the price has crossed the threshold but the required number of "Close Bars" has not yet been met to confirm a full reversal.
What is the difference between the Major and Minor lines?
The Major lines (thicker) represent the primary trend bias, while the Minor lines (thinner) represent shorter-term price action. Signals are typically most reliable when the Minor trend aligns with the Major trend.
