Strat Assistant Screener
Jul 17, 2021

The Strat Assistant Screener tool provides multi-symbol screening functionality based on "The Strat" methodology for a user-defined timeframe. It identifies specific candle types and actionable signals across up to 40 securities, displaying the results in an organized visual dashboard on the chart.
Usage
The indicator acts as a utility to scan a basket of assets for specific Strat patterns. Users can monitor 40 symbols simultaneously, which are categorized into specific lists based on their current price action.
The screener identifies:
- Candle Types: 2 Up, 2 Down, Outside (3), and Inside (1) candles.
- Actionable Signals: Hammer and Shooter formations based on customizable wick percentages.
- Color Coding: Labels are color-coded (Green for Bullish, Red for Bearish, Yellow/Fuchsia for specific patterns) to allow for rapid visual assessment of the market state.
To use the screener effectively, add it to a chart and select the desired data set from the settings. The labels will appear at the bottom of the pane, listing which tickers currently meet the criteria for each category.
Details
The script utilizes the request.security function to pull data for 40 different symbols. Due to the high computational demand of multiple security calls, it is optimized for higher timeframes (Daily or higher) to ensure stability and avoid memory limit errors.
The logic determines "Actionable Signals" by calculating the ratio of the wick to the total candle size. For example, a "Shooter" is identified when the upper wick constitutes a specific majority percentage of the total candle range, as defined in the settings.
Settings
General Settings
- Security/Screener Time Frame: Sets the timeframe on which the Strat patterns are calculated (e.g., Daily, Weekly).
- Action Wick Percentage: Determines the threshold for Hammer and Shooter signals. A value of 0.75 means 75% of the candle must be a wick.
- Label Index Offset Factor: Adjusts the horizontal spacing between the visual labels at the bottom of the chart.
- Which Data Set is Active?: Allows switching between different predefined groups of 40 symbols (e.g., Main Sectors, Market Cap, ARKK, or Custom sets).
Security Inputs
- Stk_01 - Stk_40: Individual symbol inputs for each of the available data sets, allowing users to customize which tickers are being screened.
FAQ
How do I access the Strat Assistant Screener?
You can get access on the LuxAlgo Library for charting platforms like TradingView, MetaTrader (MT4/MT5), and NinjaTrader for free.
Why does the screener take a moment to load?
Because the script makes 40 separate data requests to TradingView's servers simultaneously, it requires a short period to process and populate all labels.
Can I use this for intraday trading?
While functional on lower timeframes, it is best used as a swing trading utility on higher timeframes. For intraday use, it is recommended to monitor fewer symbols to ensure faster updates and avoid memory errors.
