The MACD + Stochastic + RSI Strategy tool provides a trend-following approach by combining momentum, oscillator, and trend-following indicators to identify high-probability breakout opportunities.

Usage

The strategy is designed to capture bullish momentum following periods of consolidation. A long position is initiated when three specific conditions align: the MACD line is above its signal line, the Stochastic %K is above the 50 level, and the RSI is above the 50 level.

The strategy does not utilize fixed take-profit or stop-loss orders by default, instead opting to stay in the trade as long as the bullish momentum persists. The exit logic is triggered when the MACD line crosses below its signal line, indicating a potential reversal or weakening of the current trend.

This tool is particularly effective on higher timeframes such as Daily (1D) or 1-hour (1H) charts for stocks and cryptocurrencies.

Details

The strategy integrates three classic technical analysis components:

  • MACD (Moving Average Convergence Divergence): Used to identify the primary trend direction and momentum.
  • Stochastic Oscillator: Used to confirm price strength relative to its recent range, specifically looking for values above the midpoint (50).
  • RSI (Relative Strength Index): Acts as a filter to ensure the asset is in a positive momentum state (above 50).

By requiring all three indicators to align, the script filters out many false signals that might occur when using only a single indicator.

Settings

  • MACD fast moving average: The length of the shorter exponential moving average for MACD calculation.
  • MACD slow moving average: The length of the longer exponential moving average for MACD calculation.
  • MACD signal line moving average: The smoothing length for the MACD signal line.
  • Stochastic Length: The lookback period for the Stochastic calculation.
  • Smoothing of Stochastic %K: The smoothing factor applied to the %K line.
  • Moving Average of Stochastic %K: The period for the %D line (moving average of %K).
  • Enable MACD Bar Color?: Toggles the chart bar coloring based on the strategy's trend detection logic.
