The ATP MACD Signal System indicator provides an enhanced implementation of the Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) designed to improve momentum analysis through automated signaling, filtering modes, and divergence detection. It offers a structured approach to identifying momentum shifts and trend reversals while maintaining the core components of the traditional MACD.

Usage

The tool can be used to identify trend direction and momentum exhaustion points. Traders can utilize the following features for different market conditions:

  • Momentum Analysis: Observe the dynamic histogram colors to detect acceleration (bright colors) or deceleration (faded colors) in momentum.
  • Automated Signals: Enable visual markers for MACD line crossovers. For example, a triangle appearing below the price bar indicates a bullish crossover (MACD crossing above the Signal line).
  • Trend Filtering: Use the "Trend Filter" to only show bullish signals when the MACD is above zero, or the "Reversal Filter" to catch potential mean-reversion setups when crossovers occur on the opposite side of the zero line.
  • Divergence Trading: Use the built-in divergence detection to spot discrepancies between price action and MACD momentum, which often precede trend changes.

Details

The script executes calculations based on two moving averages (Fast and Slow) to derive the MACD line, with a third moving average (Signal) applied to the MACD itself.

It includes logic for:

  • Signal Spacing: A configurable minimum bar count between signals to prevent clutter in choppy markets.
  • Divergence Logic: Uses pivot points to identify Higher Lows in MACD against Lower Lows in price (Bullish) or Lower Highs in MACD against Higher Highs in price (Bearish).
  • Multi-Horizon Presets: Built-in parameter sets (Scalping, Day Trading, etc.) automatically adjust the calculation lengths to suit specific timeframe objectives.

Settings

Presets

  • MACD Preset: Choose from Scalping, Day Trading, Swing Trading, Position Trading, or Custom to instantly adjust lengths.

MACD Settings

  • Fast/Slow/Signal Length: Manually define the lookback periods for the MACD components (active only in "Custom" mode).
  • Oscillator/Signal MA Type: Toggle between EMA and SMA for the calculations.

Signal Settings

  • Show Buy/Sell Signals: Toggles visibility of crossover markers.
  • Signal Filter Mode: Select between No Filter, Trend Filter (Zero Confirmation), or Reversal Filter (Zero Rejection).
  • Trade Direction: Filter signals to display Long Only, Short Only, or Both.

Divergence Settings

  • Show Divergences: Enables detection of Bullish and Bearish divergences.
  • Divergence Source: Choose to detect divergences based on the MACD Line or the Histogram.
  • Pivot Left/Right Bars: Adjusts the sensitivity of the pivot point detection used for divergences.

FAQ

How do I access ATP MACD Signal System?

You can get access on the LuxAlgo Library for charting platforms like TradingView, MetaTrader (MT4/MT5), and NinjaTrader for free.

Can I use this for scalping?

Yes, the indicator includes a "Scalping" preset that uses faster parameters (5, 13, 3) specifically designed for lower timeframe momentum analysis.

What is the difference between the Trend and Reversal filters?

The Trend Filter requires the signal to align with the zero line (e.g., long signals only when MACD > 0), whereas the Reversal Filter looks for signals occurring on the "wrong" side of the zero line to anticipate a turnaround.
