The AlphaX Slope Spectrum Pro indicator provides a professional-grade momentum analysis tool that synthesizes multi-period linear regressions into a single adaptive oscillator. By measuring the statistical slope of price across a range of lookback periods and applying inverse-variance weighting, it filters out market noise to highlight consistent directional trends.

Usage

The Usage section describes how the script can be used to identify market regimes and trade setups. Users can analyze the relationship between the oscillator line and the zero line to determine momentum direction, while the background histogram indicates momentum acceleration.

Directional Bias and Regime Filtering

The oscillator value relative to zero indicates the dominant trend: values above zero represent net positive momentum, while values below zero represent net negative momentum. By enabling statistical regime detection, the tool identifies Bull, Bear, or Range regimes based on rolling standard deviation bands. When regime filtering is enabled, the script automatically suppresses signals that oppose the current trend direction.

Entry and Exit Timing

Entries are typically identified when the slope oscillator crosses the adaptive signal line.

  • Bullish Entry: Look for a bull crossover (oscillator above signal) during a Bull Regime with positive acceleration (green histogram).
  • Bearish Entry: Look for a bear crossover (oscillator below signal) during a Bear Regime with negative acceleration (red histogram).
  • Exits: Can be managed when momentum fades (acceleration color change) or when a counter-regime crossover occurs.

Divergence Analysis

The script detects four types of divergences to aid in trend reversal and continuation identification:

  • Classic Bull/Bear (Reversal): Price makes a new extreme that the oscillator fails to confirm.
  • Hidden Bull/Bear (Continuation): Oscillator makes a new extreme while price maintains a higher low or lower high, suggesting a pullback is ending.

Details

The AlphaX Slope Spectrum Pro is built on a multi-period linear regression engine that calculates independent regressions for every period between the user-defined minimum and maximum range.

  • Inverse-Variance Weighting: This mechanism assigns higher weights to regression periods where the price tracks the trendline closely (low residual variance). This ensures that clean trends have more influence on the oscillator than choppy, volatile periods.
  • Adaptive Signal Line: Unlike standard EMAs, the signal line uses an adaptive alpha that adjusts based on trend strength. In high-trend environments (high sigma from mean), the signal speeds up to provide tighter entries; in low-trend environments, it slows down to filter out minor fluctuations.
  • Conviction Score: The dashboard calculates a 0–4 confluence score based on whether the regime, acceleration, signal direction, and divergences are aligned.

Settings

Slope Engine

  • Max Period: The upper bound of the regression scan range.
  • Min Period: The lower bound of the regression scan range.
  • Step Size: The increment between scanned periods; smaller values create a smoother oscillator.
  • Inverse-Variance Weighting: Toggles the consistency-based weighting for regressions.
  • Source: The price data used for calculations (default is Close).

Adaptive Signal Line

  • Base Signal Length: The EMA length used in neutral market conditions.
  • Adaptive Speed: Toggles whether the signal line adjusts its speed based on market volatility.

Momentum Acceleration & Regime Detection

  • Show Acceleration Histogram: Toggles the background rate-of-change visualization.
  • Regime Lookback: The rolling window used to calculate the mean and standard deviation for regime bands.
  • Regime Sensitivity (σ×): The multiplier for standard deviation; higher values require stronger trends to trigger a regime shift.

Entry & Divergence

  • Divergence Pivot Length: The number of bars required on each side to confirm a pivot point.
  • Regime-Filtered Signals: When active, only signals aligned with the current regime are displayed.
  • Overlay Candle Color: Applies the oscillator's gradient coloring to the main chart candles.

FAQ

How do I interpret the Conviction Score on the dashboard? The score ranges from 0 to 4. Each point represents alignment between the regime, acceleration, signal direction, and active divergences. A score of 4 indicates maximum confluence across all internal modules.

Does this indicator repaint its signals or divergences? No, all signals, regime transitions, and divergence markers are confirmed only on the close of the bar to ensure historical accuracy.
