Time BasedLiquidity

The Bitcoin Kill Zones v2 indicator highlights specific high-liquidity trading sessions to help traders identify institutional entry points and significant trend reversals.

Usage

The Usage section describes how the script can be used to identify key intraday liquidity events. Traders use these highlighted zones to find optimal entry windows when institutional participation is at its peak.

  • Asian Kill Zone: Often acts as the "institutional" zone where new trends are launched or post-American session positions are reloaded. It sets the tone for the trading day.
  • London Open Kill Zone: Frequently the center of significant trend establishment. A high percentage of weekly trends are often initiated during this window, particularly on Tuesdays.
  • New York Kill Zone: Brings a massive injection of liquidity as the world's largest economy opens. It is known for violent price swings and volatility.
  • London Close Kill Zone: Focuses on the rebalancing and position squaring that occurs as European markets conclude their day.

Traders should monitor price action as it enters these zones, looking for confirmation of technical levels. These zones provide the necessary liquidity for large-scale orders to be filled without excessive slippage.

Details

The script is based on concepts popularized by ICT (The Inner Circle Trader) and further refined for the Bitcoin and cryptocurrency markets. Kill zones are viewed as liquidity events where various market participants—including institutional players, portfolio managers, and retail traders—interact simultaneously.

The script execution involves checking the current bar's timestamp against user-defined session strings. If the time matches, a background highlight is applied to the chart. Version 2 includes a "Real Open Alert Bar," which provides a higher-intensity visual highlight during the specific opening minutes of a session to signal the most volatile portion of the Kill Zone.

Session Times

  • Kill Zone Sessions: Allows users to manually adjust the start and end times for each zone to account for daylight savings or specific exchange offsets.
  • Real Open Session Alert Bar: Enables a secondary, darker background highlight during the specific "open" window of a session.
  • Open Sessions: Defines the specific time range for the "Real Open" alerts (e.g., the first 15 minutes of a session).

FAQ

How do I use this for Bitcoin trading? Identify your key support and resistance levels on higher timeframes, then wait for price to enter a Kill Zone. High liquidity during these times makes it more likely that significant moves will have follow-through.

Can I change the colors of the zones? The colors are predefined for visual clarity (Red for NY, Green for London Open, Olive for London Close, and Orange for Asia), but you can modify the transparency or visibility through the settings menu.
