Stock Market Strategy : VWAP, MACD, EMA, Breakout, BB
Oct 26, 2020

The Stock Market Strategy : VWAP, MACD, EMA, Breakout, BB indicator is a comprehensive day trading tool designed to identify momentum and trend-following opportunities during the market's high-volatility opening hours. By combining volume-weighted pricing, trend filters, and volatility breakouts, the script aims to capture efficient intraday moves with a specific focus on indices like the NASDAQ.
Usage
The strategy is primarily intended for short timeframes during the first two hours of the market session. It offers two distinct operational modes:
Normal Strategy:
- Long Conditions: Price must be above the 200 EMA and VWAP, with the MACD histogram showing positive and increasing momentum.
- Short Conditions: Price must be below the 200 EMA and VWAP, with the MACD histogram showing negative and decreasing momentum.
BB (Bollinger Band) Strategy: This mode adds stricter criteria for high-probability breakouts:
- Long Entry: All Normal Strategy criteria must be met, plus price must break above the Upper Bollinger Band while the ADX remains below 40.
- Short Entry: All Normal Strategy criteria must be met, plus price must break below the Lower Bollinger Band while the ADX is above 20.
The strategy includes a time-based exit, automatically closing positions outside of the specified trading window to avoid overnight risk.
Details
The script integrates several classic technical analysis concepts to filter noise:
- Trend Filter: The 200-period EMA serves as the primary trend direction filter.
- Volume Filter: VWAP ensures trades are taken at favorable prices relative to volume.
- Momentum Filter: MACD histograms confirm that momentum is accelerating in the direction of the trade.
- Volatility/Strength Filter: Bollinger Bands identify breakout points, while the Average Directional Index (ADX) ensures the trend has sufficient (but not overextended) strength.
