The Donchian Fibonacci Trading Tool indicator provides a comprehensive framework for identifying trend transitions and potential price targets by combining classic Donchian Channels with Fibonacci retracement levels. It assists traders in making decisions by highlighting entry/exit zones, suggesting stop-loss levels via "expect" ranges, and projecting potential take-profit areas through "predict" levels.

Usage

The tool divides the price action into specific Fibonacci zones within the Donchian Channel. Traders can use these zones to identify the current market regime:

  • Up Trend Zone: Brighter green coloring indicates the price is in the upper Fibonacci section. Blue triangles appear when entering this zone.
  • Down Trend Zone: Brighter red coloring indicates the price is in the lower Fibonacci section. Red triangles appear when entering this zone.
  • Ranging Zone: Blue-shaded areas indicate neutral or sideways movement. An "X" cross marker suggests the market is leaving a trend zone.
  • Swing Line: A thick line that adjusts its level to the highest or lowest Fibonacci line based on channel touches, helping traders visualize the broader trend direction and potential pull-back levels.
  • Prediction & Expectation: Diamond markers and offset lines project potential market moves based on volatility (ATR) or percentage-based calculations, serving as visual guides for take-profit and stop-loss considerations.

Details

The script utilizes a standard Donchian Channel (Highest High and Lowest Low over a specific period) and overlays Fibonacci levels at 23.6%, 38.2%, 61.8%, and 76.4%.

  • Lag-Free Analysis: Because Donchian Channels are based on price extremes, they react instantly to new highs or lows.
  • Market Situations: The tool categorizes the last bar into four states: Up Trend, Down Trend, High Ranging, and Low Ranging. These states dictate where the "Future" offset markers are plotted.
  • Hull Moving Average (HMA): A built-in HMA provides a smoothed visual of price dynamics to help filter short-term noise.

Settings

  • per (Period): Sets the lookback period for the Donchian Channel and Hull Moving Average (Default: 24).
  • preUnit (Prediction Unit): Choose whether the prediction level is calculated based on Average True Range (ATR) or a percentage of the price.
  • preAmount (Added Amount): Determines the multiplier for the ATR or percentage prediction. Setting this to 0 disables the prediction markers.

FAQ

How do I interpret the offset markers? The offset markers (dots, crosses, and lines) project current market conditions into the future space of the chart to provide a cleaner view of potential targets and current trend bias without cluttering the immediate price action.

What do the triangles and X markers represent? Triangles represent an entry into a trend zone (bullish or bearish), while X markers indicate that price has exited a trend zone and is returning to a ranging or neutral state.
