Market Forecast w/ Signals
Dec 2, 2023

The Market Forecast w/ Signals indicator utilizes a combination of stochastic oscillators, moving averages, and custom momentum calculations to identify potential market extremes and trend reversals. It provides a comprehensive view of market cycles by tracking momentum across three distinct time horizons: intermediate-term, near-term, and short-term momentum.
Usage
The indicator can be used to identify high-probability reversal zones and trend shifts through three primary signaling methods:
- Clusters: These occur when the Intermediate, Near Term, and Momentum lines converge within the extreme zones (above 80 or below 20). A bullish cluster suggests a potential bottom, while a bearish cluster suggests a potential top. These are highlighted by background highlights.
- Trend Reversal Confirmations: These labels appear when price action confirms a cluster by breaking through key price levels established during the cluster formation. They serve as a secondary confirmation for trend shifts.
- Divergences: The indicator automatically detects divergences between the Near Term line and price action. A bullish divergence occurs when price makes a lower low but the oscillator makes a higher low, suggesting weakening bearish momentum.
Details
The script is built upon three core components:
- Stochastic Oscillators: It calculates three variations of the Fast Stochastic Oscillator. The Intermediate and Near Term results are smoothed using Simple Moving Averages (5-period and 2-period respectively) to filter out market noise.
- Custom Momentum: A unique momentum calculation is derived using the highest highs and lowest lows over a 4-period window, providing a highly responsive short-term trend indicator.
- Convergence Logic: Signals are generated based on the confluence of these multiple time-horizon oscillators, ensuring that "clusters" only fire when various speeds of market momentum align.
Settings
Oscillator Settings
- Intermediate Length: Sets the lookback period for the medium-term stochastic (default 31).
- Momentum Length: Sets the lookback period for the short-term stochastic (default 5).
- Near Length: Sets the lookback period for the very short-term stochastic (default 3).
Visuals and Signals
- Show Clusters: Toggles the background coloring for overbought/oversold clusters.
- Show Divergences: Toggles the display of divergence lines.
- Divergence Mode: Choose between showing "All" historical divergences or only the "Most Recent" one.
- Show Trend Reversal Confirmations: Toggles the circle labels for trend confirmation.
- Confirmation Mode: Choose between showing "All" confirmation labels or only the "Most Recent".
FAQ
How do I use the clusters effectively?
Clusters represent areas of market exhaustion. While they indicate potential reversals, they are best used in conjunction with the Trend Reversal Confirmations which require a price breakout to trigger.
What do the different colors represent?
Green typically represents bullish momentum or oversold conditions, red represents bearish momentum or overbought conditions, and blue tracks the highly responsive near-term price movement.
