RSI Shift Zone
Jul 22, 2025

The RSI Shift Zone indicator identifies sentiment shifts by mapping RSI momentum thresholds directly onto the price chart to create dynamic support and resistance zones. It aims to provide traders with a visual map of where momentum-based turning points occur, allowing for better identification of breakout opportunities and trend reversals.
Usage
The Usage section highlights how traders can interpret the dynamic channels generated by the indicator:
- Breakout Confirmation: The high and low boundaries of the Shift Zone act as dynamic breakout lines. A candle closing outside these boundaries often confirms a fresh trend continuation.
- Mean Reversion & Pullbacks: The midline of the zone serves as an equilibrium point. Traders can monitor price action around this line for pullbacks or consolidation within the established sentiment shift.
- Sentiment Identification: The color-coded zones provide immediate visual feedback on market sentiment—typically green for bullish shifts (RSI crossing above the upper threshold) and red for bearish shifts (RSI crossing below the lower threshold).
- Contextual Labels: When enabled, RSI value labels appear within the zones, providing the specific RSI level at the moment the shift was triggered.
Details
The RSI Shift Zone tool bridges the gap between a momentum oscillator and price action. When the RSI breaches a critical threshold (defaulted to 70 for overbought and 30 for oversold), the script "anchors" a zone to the high and low of the triggering candle.
The zone persists for a minimum number of bars (defined by the user) to ensure that the shift has sufficient time to be tested by price action. If a new shift occurs after this minimum duration, the previous zone is cleared and a new one is plotted. This implementation allows the oscillator's data to be used as a structural price-action tool rather than just a secondary pane indicator.
Settings
- RSI length: Determines the period used for the Relative Strength Index calculation (default is 14).
- Upper RSI Level: The threshold above which a bullish sentiment shift is triggered (default is 70).
- Lower RSI Level: The threshold below which a bearish sentiment shift is triggered (default is 30).
- Minimal bars length of the channel: Sets the minimum duration a zone remains visible on the chart before it can be replaced by a new shift.
- Display RSI Values at the Zones: Toggles the visibility of the RSI numerical value labels within the zones on the chart.
- Colors (↑/↓): Allows customization of the colors used for bullish and bearish shift zones.
FAQ
How do I interpret the midline in the Shift Zone? The midline represents the average of the high and low of the candle that triggered the RSI shift. It acts as a reference for price equilibrium within the specific sentiment zone.
Can I change the sensitivity of the shifts? Yes, by adjusting the RSI length or the Upper/Lower RSI levels in the settings, you can make the indicator more or less sensitive to momentum changes.
How can I access the RSI Shift Zone? You can get access on the LuxAlgo Library for charting platforms like TradingView, MetaTrader (MT4/MT5), and NinjaTrader for free.
