The Double MACD Buy and Sell indicator provides a comprehensive momentum-based analysis tool that utilizes two Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) oscillators with distinct settings to identify trend and counter-trend entry points. By combining dual-oscillator logic with divergence detection and volatility zones, the tool aims to pinpoint high-probability trading opportunities while filtering for market context.

Usage

The Usage section describes how the script can be used, examples should be provided in this section. This section also focuses on how main settings affect the indicator interpretation and output.

The indicator plots two MACD lines: a standard 12, 26 MACD (plotted as a baseline) and a faster 5, 15 MACD used for signal generation.

  • Trend Entries: These occur when the fast MACD crosses the zero line while the slower MACD confirms the momentum direction. For example, a bullish trend entry is triggered when the fast MACD crosses above zero, provided the slow MACD is also rising and situated below the fast MACD.
  • Counter-Trend Entries: These signals appear when the fast MACD crosses the slow MACD while both are extended away from the zero line, suggesting a potential mean-reversion move.
  • Contextual Filters: Users can utilize the "Atlas Zone" and "Choppiness Zone" to identify market conditions. The Atlas Zone highlights periods of low volatility (consolidation) that often precede significant breakouts, while the Choppiness Zone identifies non-trending markets where momentum signals may be less reliable.
  • Divergence Analysis: The script automatically identifies regular and hidden divergences between price and the fast MACD, providing early warnings for trend exhaustion or continuation.

Details

The script is constructed using two specific EMA-based MACD configurations (12, 26, 9 and 5, 15, 9). The integration of the Atlas Zone is based on a Bollinger Band Squeeze-style calculation, measuring the relationship between current volatility and its long-term average. The Choppiness Index utilizes a fractal dimension calculation to determine if the market is trending or trading within a range. Divergences are identified using a fractal-based pivot detection algorithm that compares price peaks/troughs against MACD peaks/troughs over a lookback period.

Settings

  • Ver Señal de Entrada de Tendencia: Toggles the visibility of trend-following entry signals (triangles).
  • Ver Señal de Contra Tendencia: Toggles the visibility of counter-trend entry signals.
  • Ver Zona Atlas: Enables a background highlight for consolidation zones.
  • Ver Zona Choppiness: Enables a background highlight for choppy, non-trending market conditions.
  • Nivel Choppiness: Sets the threshold for the Choppiness Index (default is 50); higher values indicate more noise.
  • Divergence Settings: Individual toggles for Bullish Regular, Bearish Regular, Bullish Hidden, and Bearish Hidden divergences.
  • Ver Etiquetas De Divergencias: Toggles the labels (Bear/Bull) appearing on detected divergences.

FAQ

How do I interpret the different signals on the chart? Trend signals are visualized as triangles when the MACD crosses the zero line under specific momentum conditions. Divergences are labeled with "R" for regular and "O" for hidden (oculta) to indicate potential trend reversals or continuations.

What do the red background highlights mean? The red background indicates either an "Atlas Zone" (volatility squeeze) or a "Choppiness Zone" (ranging market), depending on which settings are enabled. These areas suggest caution as the market is either consolidating or lacking a clear trend.
