ZigZag Percent Reversal - LVL2
Jul 1, 2019

The ZigZag Percent Reversal - LVL2 indicator identifies significant price structural changes by plotting a zigzag line based on a user-defined percentage reversal threshold. It provides a visual representation of market swings, helping traders identify trend direction and potential reversal points.
Usage
The Usage section highlights how to interpret the zigzag patterns for technical analysis. Traders can use the indicator to:
- Identify Market Structure: The tool highlights higher highs, lower lows, and overall swing points, making it easier to visualize the current market trend.
- Filter Noise: By setting a percentage reversal threshold, the indicator ignores minor price fluctuations, focusing only on moves that meet the specified magnitude.
- Spot Reversals: A change in the zigzag direction suggests a potential shift in market momentum.
- Custom Visuals: Users can adjust the line thickness and colors to differentiate between rising and falling price swings.
Details
The script operates by tracking the highest high or lowest low of a current move. A reversal is triggered only when the price closes beyond a specific distance (calculated as a percentage of the last pivot price) from the extreme point of the current swing.
A unique feature of this "LVL2" version is the "Show real zigzag pivots" option. When enabled, the zigzag line connects to the exact timestamp where the high or low occurred, rather than the timestamp where the reversal was confirmed, providing a more accurate historical representation of price action.
Settings
- Percent of last pivot price for zigzag reversal: Determines the percentage move required to trigger a trend reversal. Smaller values make the indicator more sensitive, while larger values filter more noise.
- Show real zigzag pivots: If enabled, the indicator anchors the lines to the actual time of the high/low. If disabled, it anchors to the time of reversal confirmation.
- ZigZag Line: Allows customization of the color for rising and falling swings, as well as the width of the plotted line.
