The L3 Volatility Ehlers Stochastic CGO indicator is an advanced momentum tool that integrates the Center of Gravity Oscillator with an Ehlers-Stochastic framework and ALMA smoothing to identify market trend shifts.

Usage

The indicator functions as a non-overlaid oscillator that helps traders identify cyclical turning points and momentum shifts. It features a dual-line system: the primary Stochastic CGO line and a lagging signal line smoothed by the Arnaud Legoux Moving Average (ALMA).

  • Trend Identification: A bullish trend is indicated when the primary line is above the lagging line (typically shown with green shading). Conversely, a bearish trend is suggested when the primary line is below the lagging line (red shading).
  • Trade Signals: The script generates automated labels based on mathematical crossovers relative to the zero-reference line:
    • Buy Labels: Triggered when the rising Stochastic CGO crosses above the ALMA line while both are below the zero level.
    • Sell Labels: Triggered when the falling Stochastic CGO crosses below the ALMA line while both are above the zero level.
  • Visual Customization: Users can toggle the "Fill Between Lines" setting to enhance the visibility of current trend dynamics through shaded zones.

Details

The L3 Volatility Ehlers Stochastic CGO utilizes a multi-layered approach to price analysis. It begins with a weighted OHLC calculation to prioritize closing prices while maintaining sensitivity to the bar's range. This data is processed through a Center of Gravity (CGO) formula, which is then transformed using a Stochastic framework to normalize the values between -1 and 1. To reduce market noise and provide actionable signals, the indicator applies an ALMA smoothing algorithm, which offers a superior balance between responsiveness and lag compared to traditional moving averages.

Settings

  • Fast Length (CGO): (Default: 9) Controls the lookback window for the Center of Gravity calculation. Lower values increase sensitivity to short-term fluctuations.
  • Slow Length (ALMA): (Default: 5) Determines the smoothing window for the lagging signal line.
  • ALMA Offset: (Default: 0.85) Adjusts the Gaussian distribution of the ALMA, allowing for adaptive curve optimization.
  • ALMA Sigma: (Default: 6.0) Controls the width of the distribution; higher values lead to a smoother, more lagged line.
  • Fill Between Lines: A toggle to enable or disable the background color fill between the primary and lagging lines.

FAQ

How do I interpret the zero line?

The zero line acts as a baseline for the oscillator. Crosses occurring above or below this level are used to filter signal quality, ensuring that buy signals occur in "oversold" territory and sell signals occur in "overbought" territory.

What assets does this work best on?

While the L3 Volatility Ehlers Stochastic CGO is versatile, it performs best on assets with clear cyclical patterns. It is recommended to adjust the Fast and Slow Lengths when switching between volatile crypto markets and more stable equity indices.
