The Momentum Confluence Detector indicator is a comprehensive tool designed to identify high-probability trading opportunities by detecting momentum bars that align with multiple confluence factors. It combines traditional technical analysis with Smart Money Concepts (SMC) to filter market noise and highlight significant price movements.

Usage

The indicator identifies momentum bars based on unusual volume and bar size expansion. Users can validate these signals using a multi-filter confluence system:

  • Filter Logic: Choose between "ALL" mode (requires all enabled filters to pass for high precision) or "ANY" mode (requires at least one filter for higher frequency).
  • Trend Alignment: Use the Trend Filter to ensure momentum signals align with the EMA/SMA direction. For example, a bullish signal is only valid if price is above the moving average.
  • Breakout Confirmation: The Breakout Filter detects price movements beyond recent highs/lows, filtering out signals that occur within choppy ranges.
  • Volatility Check: The Volatility Filter uses ATR expansion to ensure signals occur during active market conditions rather than low-volatility periods.
  • Session Filtering: Restrict signals to specific trading sessions like London or New York to avoid low-liquidity moves.

Details

The script integrates two primary methodologies for level detection:

  1. Support/Resistance Levels: Utilizes pivot-based detection with customizable spans (Short, Medium, Long). It tracks touches and "flip zones" to determine the strength of a level.
  2. Smart Money Concepts (SMC): Analyzes institutional order flow by identifying:
    • Order Blocks (OB): Supply and demand zones created by major/minor structure breaks.
    • Fair Value Gaps (FVG): Imbalance areas that track partial fills and inversions (IFVGs).
    • Market Structure: Automatically detects Break of Structure (BOS) and Change of Character (CHoCH).

Settings

Momentum Bar

  • Volume Multiplier: Minimum volume spike relative to the average to qualify as momentum.
  • Bar Size Multiplier: Minimum price expansion relative to the average bar size.

Filters

  • Level Concept Filter: Toggle between traditional S/R Levels or Smart Money Concepts.
  • Trend Filter: Choose between EMA/SMA and set the lookback period.
  • Breakout Threshold: Percentage beyond recent extremes required to confirm a breakout.
  • ATR Multiplier: Required volatility expansion for signal validation.

Smart Money Concepts

  • Structure Display: Toggle between Major and Minor market structure labels.
  • FVG Threshold: Percentage-based filter to remove insignificant gaps.
  • Order Block Mitigation: Choose whether OBs are mitigated by Close or High/Low price action.

FAQ

How do I interpret the signal markers? Triangular markers appear on the chart when a momentum bar meets the criteria of your enabled filters. Green markers indicate bullish momentum, while red indicates bearish.

Can I see the levels without using them as filters? Yes, the visual elements (Boxes, Lines, Gaps) can be toggled on or off in the settings independently of the signal filtering logic.

How do I access the Momentum Confluence Detector? You can get access on the LuxAlgo Library for charting platforms like TradingView, MetaTrader (MT4/MT5), and NinjaTrader for free.
