5 MAs w. alerts
Apr 22, 2019

The 5 MAs w. alerts indicator provides a comprehensive framework for technical analysis by plotting up to five customizable moving averages with integrated multi-condition alert systems. This tool allows traders to monitor various trends simultaneously across different timeframes and types, offering a centralized solution for moving average-based strategies.
Usage
The indicator can be used to visualize trends using nine different moving average types, including SMA, EMA, RMA, WMA, KAMA, VWMA, ALMA, Linear Regression, and HMA. Users can configure each MA individually with specific sources, lengths, and timeframe offsets.
The core functionality revolves around its six distinct marker conditions, which can trigger both visual plots and alerts:
- MA Crosses: Detects when any two user-defined MAs intersect.
- Price Proximity: Identifies when the price (or a specific source) is above or below a selected MA.
- Quick Flips: A specialized setup involving MA crosses, specific volume conditions (where available), and MA slope direction.
- Historic Difference Percentage: Triggers when the distance between two MAs is within a specific percentage of its historical range.
- MA Slope Persistence: Highlights when a specific MA has been rising or falling for a consecutive number of bars.
- ATR Deviation: Flags instances where the distance between two MAs exceeds a multiple of the Average True Range (ATR).
Details
This tool is designed to move beyond the traditional "support and resistance" view of moving averages, instead treating them as instruments to contextualize price action across various resolutions. Features like the "Darken falling MAs" option allow for immediate visual confirmation of momentum shifts. The indicator also handles multi-timeframe (MTF) data, with options for smoothing and non-repainting logic to ensure signal stability on lower timeframe charts.
Settings

- Use higher time frame: Allows the MA to be calculated based on a different resolution than the chart.
- Hide from time frame higher than: Optimizes chart clarity by removing MAs on higher intervals.
Global Configuration
- Darken falling MAs: Changes the color of the MA line when its slope is negative.
- Smooth Higher Timeframes: Applies smoothing to MTF lines to prevent "staircase" effects.
Markers
- Trade Direction: Filters markers to show only "Longs", "Shorts", or "Both".
- Marker 1-6: Individual toggles for each of the six analytical conditions described in the usage section, including background coloring options.
MA Parameters
- KAMA/ALMA/LinReg Settings: Specific fine-tuning parameters for advanced MA types, such as fast/slow lengths for KAMA or offset for ALMA.
