Community MoneyLine
May 11, 2026

The Community MoneyLine indicator provides an advanced volatility-based trend-following framework designed to identify macro market shifts while filtering out market noise during consolidation phases.
Usage
The Usage section describes how the script can be used to identify trend direction and potential reversal points. The indicator functions as a dynamic trailing stop that creates a "Staircase Support/Resistance" level on the chart.
- Uptrend (Bullish): When price is above the MoneyLine, the indicator plots a green support level. This level only moves upward to lock in gains and never retreats downward during the current trend.
- Downtrend (Bearish): When price is below the MoneyLine, the indicator plots a red resistance level. This level only moves downward to track price descent and never moves upward until a trend flip occurs.
- Trend Flips: A trend shift is triggered when price action decisively breaks the trailing stop. The script includes a visual "Clean Break" feature, creating a gap between trend shifts to highlight the exact pivot point without vertical connecting lines.
Users can utilize the indicator for multi-timeframe analysis. For example, when trading on lower timeframes like the 15m or 1h, increasing the ATR Sensitivity or viewing the indicator on a higher timeframe can help align trades with the macro trend while ignoring micro-volatility.
Details
The Community MoneyLine is built upon a modified trailing-stop mechanism using the Average True Range (ATR). It incorporates several refinement techniques to improve signal quality:
- Heikin Ashi Smoothing: The script can internally calculate its trailing-stop logic using Heikin Ashi candle values. This approach mitigates whipsaws caused by extreme wicks or "fake" price spikes, as Heikin Ashi averages price data to emphasize the dominant trend.
- Momentum Filtering: The tool includes an optional EMA-based filter. When enabled, a bullish flip requires the price to be above the EMA, and a bearish flip requires the price to be below the EMA. This is specifically designed to reduce false signals during "sideways meat grinder" market conditions.
- Visual Precision: Unlike standard trailing stops that float above or below candles, this script pins "Bullish" and "Bearish" labels directly to the MoneyLine, ensuring high visibility without cluttering price action.
Settings
General Settings
- ATR Sensitivity: Controls the lookback period for the Average True Range calculation. Lower values react faster to price changes, while higher values provide more stability.
- Trend Depth: A multiplier for the ATR value. Increasing this depth pushes the MoneyLine further from price action, allowing for larger macro moves and avoiding premature exits during normal volatility.
- Use Heikin Ashi Smoothing: Toggles whether the internal trailing stop logic uses Heikin Ashi price data instead of standard candle data.
- Label Offset: Adjusts the vertical distance between the trend labels ("Bullish"/"Bearish") and the MoneyLine.
Filter Settings
- Enable Momentum Filter: Activates an EMA-based requirement for trend flips to filter out range-bound price action.
- Filter EMA Length: Determines the period of the Exponential Moving Average used for the momentum filter.
FAQ
How do I interpret the red and green lines? The green line represents trailing support in an uptrend, while the red line represents trailing resistance in a downtrend. A color change indicates a potential trend reversal.
What is the benefit of the Momentum Filter? The Momentum Filter prevents trend flips from occurring unless the price is also on the correct side of a medium-term EMA, helping you avoid "choppy" signals in flat markets.
