The Crypto RSI with RVI Strategy indicator is a long-only trading system designed to capture extended trends in the cryptocurrency market while minimizing downside risk. It combines a long-period Relative Strength Index (RSI) applied to volume with the Relative Volatility Index (RVI) to identify high-probability entry points and trend exhaustion.

Usage

The strategy is primarily used to identify long entries during bullish momentum. A buy signal is generated when the volume-weighted RSI crosses above the sell zone level while the RVI indicates a positive trend (buy zone).

Users can adapt the strategy for different market conditions by adjusting the long-period RSI (typically set to 100 or 200) to filter out short-term noise. The strategy provides an automated exit mechanism when trend conditions reverse or when a pre-defined stop loss/take profit level is reached.

Details

The script utilizes two main components for its decision-making logic:

  • Volume-Weighted RSI: Unlike a standard RSI, this version incorporates volume to measure the strength of price movements, helping to distinguish between significant breakouts and low-volume fluctuations.
  • Relative Volatility Index (RVI): This acts as a trend confirmation tool. It measures the direction of volatility; entries are only permitted when volatility is expanding in an upward direction.

The combination of these two filters aims to ensure that the strategy only enters trades when both price momentum and volatility are aligned.

Settings

  • Period: Sets the lookback period for both the volume-based RSI and the volatility calculations.
  • Buy Zone: The threshold level for the RVI to confirm a bullish environment.
  • Sell Zone: The threshold level for the RSI crossover and RVI bearish confirmation.
  • Trade reverse: Reverses the entry and exit logic.
  • Risk: The percentage of equity to risk per trade.
  • Leverage: Multiplier applied to the position size.
  • Stop Loss: The percentage distance from the entry price to trigger a stop loss.
  • Take Profit: The percentage distance from the entry price to trigger a take profit.
