Volatility Support & Resistance
Oct 17, 2020

The Volatility Support & Resistance [LM] indicator identifies and plots horizontal support and resistance levels based on high-volatility price action across multiple timeframes.
Usage
The Usage section describes how the script can be used to identify key pivot zones. The tool automatically detects candles with significant price ranges relative to the Average True Range (ATR) and marks their highs and lows as potential supply and demand levels.
- Multi-Timeframe Analysis: Users can overlay levels from the current timeframe as well as two additional user-defined timeframes (e.g., 4H or 1H) to find confluences.
- Dynamic Coloring: Levels change color based on the current price position. When the price is above a level, it is treated as support (Green); when below, it is treated as resistance (Red).
- Trend Identification: Consolidation between these volatility-based levels often precedes a breakout, while levels from higher timeframes provide stronger historical significance.
Details
The script identifies "volatile candles" by comparing the current bar's range (High - Low) against the ATR multiplied by a user-defined factor. When a candle exceeds this threshold, its high and low are stored. The indicator can display multiple historical occurrences of these volatile bars (1st most recent, 2nd most recent, etc.), allowing traders to see a hierarchy of structural levels.

FAQ
How do I interpret the colors of the lines? The colors are dynamic: green indicates the price is currently above the level (Support), and red indicates the price is currently below the level (Resistance).
Can I view levels from higher timeframes on a lower timeframe chart? Yes, use the "First Timeframe" or "Second Timeframe" sections in the settings to select a higher timeframe, which will then be projected onto your current chart.
